CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Viv paced around her bedroom, picking out the clothing to pack in her overnight bag. She was going to take enough for two nights, she decided, just in case there was a delay in Gordon Marshall’s arrest. It would be better to hide away in this safe retreat, rather than make herself vulnerable where she knew they could find her. It was surprising how Stella Fall’s words had stuck in her head. Even though she’d protested against them, she realized their truth. She was going to be in danger. She’d known that deep down even before Stella had called her now, with tension twanging in her voice, to say someone had attempted to murder her. Viv picked out underwear and socks. Two spare shirts. What else? The countryside spa where she was going was extremely secure and discreet.
