CHAPTER FOUR
As Maxwell left Graham Haddow’s home, he looked around him, noting that scattered groups of onlookers and emergency services were still on the scene. The community was severely shaken by this. People were anxiously watching as he and Fall headed for the street.
The morning had been so busy that he hadn’t had a chance to speak to Fall about another issue that was worrying him deeply.
It involved Brigitte, his ex-wife.
As they headed across the road, approaching the Taylors’ righthand neighbors, Maxwell felt tension knot inside him. He’d spoken to Brigitte on the weekend. As gently as he could, he had broken the news that for him, the marriage was over. That he was not prepared to try again and that he was going to start divorce proceedings.
