I turned off the lights in the kitchen .

I couldnt stop thinking about Victoria, I saw the marks on her neck they were scary and disturbing , am not a fool to not know they were hand marks from strangulation.

While I was doing the dishes with Phoenix ,her son he said something to me .

"Can I tell you something , promise you wont tell anyone "he said.

"Sure you can trust me "I said.

He looked up at me he had his mom's cute eyes.

"I walked in on daddy doing something bad to mommy "he said.

"What did you see?"I asked.

"He had his hands on her neck she wasnt breathing well , "he said as he showed me how he did it he placed his small hands on my neck gently squeezed.

I thought maybe he mustve walked in on his parents having s*x or kissing .

"Call me if you ever need any help , or just come here . "I Said he nodded.

I gave him a hug .

It seems like their father is the busy type.

"Maybe we should call her to know if shes okay?"I said to Ruby .

Ruby got up and went to the door and began to scratch it . Whenever she does that , someone or something is at the door .

I opened the door and found Phoenix holding his sister while they sat on the floor shaking and crying .

"Please come in "I said .

They were so afraid .

I carried Dhalia and held Phoenix's hand I sat carrying Dhalia while Phoenix sat next to me , he wrapped his arms around me holding on to me dearly

"Where is mommy ?"I asked.

"Daddy is hurting mommy... please help us.. she was bleeding ... hes doing something bad to mommy . She told us to run far away we came here . You have to help my mommy "Phoenix said admist sobs .

I called Jake .

"I need you to come to my apartment as fast as you can , I have two important guests , they dont look so well . Okay thanks"I said.

I know Victoria's address, she left it in my office when she booked an appointment.

I turned on the tv and let them watch some cartoons .

"My friend is on his way , he will take care of you dont be afraid , if you need anything feel free"I said. I placed some snacks on the table .

I took my car keys and ran out of my apartment , that bastard will pay for this.

I drove so fast to Victoria's house, it was a big mansion.

I went straight upstairs looking in each room until I came across one.

The bastard was getting dressed .

I hit him he was drunk so knocking him wasnt so hard.

Victoria laid on the bed unconscious , naked with bruises from what looked like whip marks on her back , arms and two on her chest , a black eye, hand marks on her neck, a bloody nose .

I was so angry , why would someone do that to a young devoted mother.

I punched and kicked her i***t husband.

"Why did you do it?"I said.

He laughed.

"She deserved it , I made her what she is I am her husband I do as I please with my wife"he said I punched him.

I reached out to see if she had a pulse luckily she was still alive .I covered Victoria with the sheets and carried her, to my car.

I rushed her to the hospital , they attended to her immediately .

Her husband not only beat her up but also raped her . I was so angry I wanted to squeeze him to death.

Thankfully the kids had already run away so they didnt see what their father did to their mother.

I felt so guilty to not have seen the signs before , none of this would have happened.

Her adorable kids didnt deserve this .

Where are you? Jake texted.

Am at Maryland Hospital, the bastard beat her up and raped her.I replied.

Am on my way he replied .

What about the kids? I texted .

They are with me , they insisted they must see their mom he replied .

This is so hard , how will I tell them , they are already emotionally traumatized.

Jake came into the waiting area with the kids , he carried Dhalia as Phoenix ran to where I sat . I held him.

"Is mommy okay"Dhalia asked .

"Shes okay shes just resting"I said.

"Will we see her?"Phoenix asked.

"We will , when she wakes up"I said.

The boy held me so close and dearly , poor kids , why did this happen to the both of you and most especially to Victoria.

Two police officers came to where I sat.

"Mr Daniel can we have a word"they said, I nodded.

"Phoenix why dont you come here next to me "Jake said.

Phoenix got up and went to sit next to Jake he placed his arm around the small boy , his sister was already asleep.

I went with the officers to a private room.

They asked how I found her , what had happened when I got there, because she was raped the doctor had to call the police. Her husband was caught and in police custody.

In the meantime I will stay with the kids , Victoria's sister left to London .

I couldnt get the kids clothes since their home was on a lockdown and declared a crime scene , the police were gathering more evidence so they could get a clue of what really happened.

I went back to my apartment with them .

I laid them in the guestroom bed as Jake covered them with a grey comforter.

I kissed them goodnight just how their mommy does it.

"Thanks for the help "I said.

"It was my pleasure, am really sad for them, they described to me what happened , I had to change the topic and excused myself to the bathroom to shed some tears"he said.

"It hurt me too. The doctor assured me shes stable and out of danger"I said.

The next day I woke up and made some cereals for the kids I took my coffee. They looked so sad hopefully Jake will do one of his magic tricks and make them smile.

I rushed to the clinic to check on a patient , she is recovering from a vaginal surgery, she had some growth on her cervix am glad the removal of the growth was a success .

After my patient left I got a text from Jake

She's awake

I took off my white coat , took my car keys and headed straight to the hospital to see Victoria.
