His to stay-part 2

She did not argue with him about her safety. She knew very well he would do his best to keep her safe-or at least she wanted to believe that truly- but she also knew that a werewolf pack does not mess around when it comes to breaking rules. Elanor knew that she was not safe at all and that terrified her. After decades of times, her survival instinct was the only thing that kept her alive, kept her going. And in this moment she was doing the exact opposite of what she knew to do. It made her feel stupid, foolish even. She set her safety into the hands of a man, and that being a werewolf; not any werewolf but an alpha.  Seeing that Elanor had fallen into thought, Aeolian started to push himself to wake up. He did not have to ask her what was going on. He already knew it. And even if he did ask her, he did not know what to tell her or how to reassure her. "Tell me about your pack." Elanor broke the silence, her head turning to him. A little taken aback by her question, Aeolian stared at her confused at first. "My pack... well, the one you just met is the beta in command. Aaron. We are not the biggest pack around, but we might the toughest. We respect traditions and adhere to our old ways since forever I guess. As an alpha I have my rights and my duties, but the ones a step ahead of me are our Elders." "Elder? You mean every single old nun can be an Elder?" "No. it does not work like that. The Elders are usually the previous Alphas and Lunas that are still alive and sane. In this moment, the oldest of them is my grand-grand-grand-grandfather. " Her brows furrowed lightly.  "How do you live so long?! I thought werewolves are not immortal." "And we are not. We have a very humane body, we can get sick, ill, the body can fail. But as long as you know how to keep yourself healthy, the body does not age. For example how old do you think I am?" his hands moved slowly to tuck a strand of her behind her ear. "Not very old to be honest. You do look in your early thirty." "Quite accurate. But I will keep looking this old for how long I care for myself.Proper nutrition, sport, even stress management is important. Does it make sense?" Elanor nodded her head, adverting his eyes from him. Of course his pack was a traditional one. "Have you ever encountered vampires ? your pack I mean." "We did a few times. But It did not happen recently. Those my age have probably never even thought vampires still roam the same Earth as we do." Silence fell over the two again. "Tell me. Is there a reason why you are so afraid of us?" Aeolian asked. To this question, Elanor stiffened a little and shuffled free from his embrace. taking a seating position beside him, with her eyes pinned on the blanket in her lap, She pondered if she should tell him or not. Should she open herself in front of him?  A long sigh was heard before she spoke. "A couple. Yes. "Elanor nodded her head slowly, taking a look at him with the corner of her eyes. "As you might have noticed already, I am not a strong vampire. i do not run at my full potential. Since my diet is a little experimental, I am not the best vampire specimen out here."she giggled a little amused."I just keep myself at a level of energy good enough so I can be close to a human, even mistaken for one." Aeolian pushed his pillow against the frame of the bed and sat up against it listening to her. "Also-long ago- I used to be part of a clan. We were not many. Around fourthy something... I can't even recall for sure. We lived in Romania. Maybe the best place for a vampire to live their life. At that time, all of us were feeding on human blood and the system was such a failure they could never keep track of the people missing. It was a complete feast for us. We were strong, growing and thriving. Some of us just hid in our shelter in the forest, some of us worked normal jobs. I remember that one of the oldest in the clan, was a sweet doctor. She was the most caring and nurturing person I have ever met. She was the one that save me long ago." Elanor seemed trapped into her memories. A smile was drawn on her face as she danced with the images and memories of hers. "But there was a point when we knew we just blew it. One of the youngest in the clan did a small mistakes, that allowed a pack of Romanian werewolves to track us down and make us pay for our crimes. "Her smile faded."I don't even know how I managed to escape the slaughter. It was like a scene from a war movies. We did take down a few of them, but they were too many and not all of us managed to feed recently." she paused and shrugged her shoulders in defeat. "I've lost my family to those like you." It was not a comment directed to hurt him. It was just what she felt in that moment. "They all paid for their crimes. But it does not make it easier for me to feel better. I starved myself for months after this, thinking I would just die. It did not happen." she huffed amused and shook her head. "The thirst was terrible. it burned my whole body inside-out. and when I could not take it, a poor doe happened to cut my way in the forest. I can't even describe to you the trance I felt when I heard her heartbeat. I slaughtered without any mercy. I drank until I was satisfied. It was the moment I realised I don't need human blood to survive. But it was also the day I surrendered my powers as a vampire." Words trailed off into silence as she realised she had been talking for a while. A nervous laugh shook her chest.  The sun had already rose, bathing the room in a warm light. It was not raining anymore. Silence overtook the two once again. Aeolian was processing her words carefully, trying to not overstep his boundaries. She suffered a trauma and he was glad she shared it with him even given the circumstances.  "I can't say I am sorry for what you have been through Ela." His voice broke the silence, as he reached for her to pull her closer." I can not take away the past from you, the memories of it all. It's yours to deal with. But I am here to support you and offer you the protection I have to offer. "  The woman sank into the man's chest, her back resting against him. Hazelnut eyes scanned the room calmly.  "I appreciate." her voice a mere whisper. Her head leaned to the side to rest at the base of his neck. "I can't promise you I am going to fit in. I won't promise you to be docile and bow my head. I Am willing to lose my life but not my pride Aeolian." Her words were fierce, strong and clear. He understood the message. And he knew there will be a moment when he will have to decide what side to take. Lips pressed against ash blonde hair as a reply. "You should go. You are already suspicious and I don't want another broken window." She met his eyes with a smile.  Aeolian nodded. she was right. Most likely everyone was looking for him and trying to get to him. He would get a scolding for this today. but he found it was worth it.  After a short shower to wash away her scent, or at least part of it, Aeolian took off to the pack grounds.  As soon as he approached the beach, he could feel the anger and the tension rise within his body and mind. A short shiver run down his neck and shoulders, a growl growing in his chest.  Danger.
