When the man disappeared from the living room, Laura turned to Elanor giving her a death glare.
“What the Frick?” Laura muttered a little unhappy. Elanor raised her hands in defeat, with a guilty grin on her lips.“I could not tell you anything. It’s a little complicated. Please, please don’t push me now!”
“I’m just saying it’s not fair. You had the guts to tell me about your origins and now you don’t want to tell me you’re seeing someone?” Laura muttered, turning back to the T.V. screen. “But it’s your choice after all…”
Elanor sighed a little relieved that her friend did not try to fish out more answers. She walked back to sit beside her friend, pulling her legs up to cozy herself as they continued to try to find something to watch.
Aeolian made sure there was no one or nothing strange left in the bedroom before he locked the door of the balcony and walked into the bathroom. There was nothing he could wear and with her friend around, he could not just walk around in underwear. He pulled off his shirt and tossed it into the dryer along with his pants and turned on the fast dry cycle as he waited patiently. With lazy and long steps, he roamed the upstairs level of the house, checking for anything that was out of place or strange in the house. But he found nothing. The only place that held a smell print was the bedroom. Something stirred inside of him. He felt almost as if she cheated on him with something. Like she had something to hide from him. But it was stupid, wasn’t it?
After a while, Elanor walked upstairs. Aeolian was still sitting on the bed waiting for the dryer to end the cycle. “Laura fell asleep.” Elanor spoke as she approached the man.
Aeolian nodded his head shortly and patted the bed right next to him for her to sit beside him. Elanor walked and took a sit on the bed.
“What’s up with you?”
“Did anyone enter your house today? Did you invite someone over?” His voice was low and something told her he was unhappy about something. “I did not have guests beside Laura. Aaron was here in the morning to fix the door. But no one else. Why?”
“Curious.” Aeolian replied. “Can’t you feel anything weird here?” “The only weird thing here is your current behaviour. If you have anything to say it, just say it. I can’t read your mind.” Her voice was a little snappy and irritated. “Someone was here. Why did you not lock the door?” Aeolian was growing angry.“Because I thought you don’t know how to use the front door and that you like to climb walls in your spare time!” She hissed at him.
Their gazes locked. Both seemed irritated and frustrated with each other in this moment. After a few long moments, Aeolian looked away and got up. “We had the neighbouring pack come to warn us about a few vampire attacks. Some recent, some older.”“I don’t feed on human blood.” Elanor defended herself immediately.“I did not say that! I’m just saying there are dangerous vampires around and you should be more careful!”Aeolian growled in a low voice, irritated.“What would a vampire do one of their kind? I’m very s-““You are not and you know that!” Aeolian snapped and raised his voice at her. Her brows narrowed immediately and her jaw clenched. Realising what he had done, Aeolian sighed deeply and walked back to the bed, standing in front of her. He lowered to her level and cupped her cheek. The woman pulled away and got up from her spot walking to the window , crossing her arms on her chest, her back turned to him.
“Ela, I’m sorry.”The man whispered as he approached her.
She could feel his arms wrap around her slowly, her back resting against his chest. The man set his chin on top of her head as he looked out the window.
“I’m just worried. I can’t be around to offer you protection and truth be told, I don’t know what I would do without my mate, without you. I don’t doubt you can take care of yourself, but it seems that feeding on anything else than human blood, doesn’t do much for you. I can’t even be sure I can protect you from my own pack, let alone be here if a vampire shows up.” he huffed a little amused and frustrated at the same time.
“And you still think we are fit for each other?” She muffled ironically. “If you don’t mind it, I would like to see where it goes. But I am sure we can make it work one way or another.” The man whispered, as his lips pressed a kiss on top of her head.
“How can someone your size be so soft and sweet yet so scary?” Elanor laughed as she pulled away from his embrace and turned around to face him. “You’re weird. “ She chuckled and reached up to his face to cup his stubby cheek. "Just as someone like you can be so gentle and small."The man laughed, taking her hand in his .
"I'm not small!" Elanor defended herself in a high pitched voice.
Aeolian burst into another fit of laughter, pulling her into his arms, lifting her up and tossing her over his shoulder.
"You're so small, that if you were a werewolf, your wolf would be the size of a pup." He teased as he walked to the bed and set her down on it.
Elanor rolled her eyes and pouted as she crawled away from him. With a wide grin on his lips, Aeolian grabbed her ankle and pulled her on his lap, his nose finding rest on the base of her neck. The warm air that hit her skin, made it turn into goosebumps.
"For someone who lived in the same body for so long, you are awfully unaware of your looks." the man muttered against her neck as he started to press kisses upwards.
"When you live for so long, you start to not care to look in the mirror too often." Elanor whispered as a reply, her fingers finding their way into his still damp her.
"From what i can see, you are wonderful."
Elanor chuckled and fell silent, her eyes closing slowly.
Soon, their lips met. Her stomach filled with butterflies for a few moments as she dove into the kiss hungrily. Worries melted away, enemies washed away and nothing mattered anymore.
"Hey, Aeolian..." Elanor whispered breaking the kiss slowly.
"Mhm?"the man growled lowly as a reply.
"I think you've been followed..."the female whispered.
Aeolian paused, his lips parted as he was ready to stop her from talking and kiss her again. Blue eyes opened slowly trying to understand why she said that. His heart skipped a beat when he felt the very familiar scent of the red haired female. His stomach tightened as if he had been punched. Slowly , the man broke away from Elanor.
"I'm sorry... " He whispered as he got up. It was clear he did not expect this at all and it got him by surprise. For a moment he even forgot his authority and the only thought was that he messed it all up. He hurried and got dressed before he walked out of the house without any other word, leaving Elanor baffled and confused.
His reaction stirred fear and uncertainty in her. What was happening? She walked to the balcony door and locked it slowly, watching the image of the pitch black wolf disappear into the darkness of the night.
