“Time to train, wall flower,” Andy says to me in a deserted part of the park. Rosin, Andy, Ezekiel and I jogged here early this morning to train, but I have no idea what they have in store. “These demons coming after you don’t play nice,” “How about you jog around the park once to warm up,” Rosin says, but it’s not a negotiation. “Jogging here wasn’t enough?” I ask. “Not nearly,” Ezekiel says, speaking for the first time to me since yesterday. “Whatever,” I say putting my headphones back over my ears, noticing the imperceptible roll of Rosin’s eyes. I take off and hear Vampire Weekend’s song Run play in my ears. The cool breeze, the moments I have alone without them, and the soft pat of my feet beneath me.
