Chapter 4: Doesn't Change Anything

871 Words
We pulled up to a small diner not far away from the pack limits. "You do know this doesn't change anything" I clarified forgetting why I ended up agreeing to this in the first place. "Mmm we'll see" he replied making me glare not getting a chance to protest before he hopped out of the car running around to open my door. "This is my favorite place to go and you are the very first person I have taken here" he started before I interrupted, "you've never came here with anybody?' I questioned making his head shake. "Well I used to come here with my parents every Saturday morning, but no not since then" he finished sadness crossing his face but only for a second. "Ohh you've brought company today Nathan" an old women asked from behind the hostess desk. "I sure did Mrs. Newley" he said proudly making me smile at his brought grin. His hands fell on my hips as he walked behind me while Mrs. newly led us to our table. "Pushing it" whispered behind me getting a soft chuckle followed by a "I'm a risk taker" right up against my ear. We had finally sat down my eyes giving the menu a once over. "So tell me about yourself" he asked making me look up slightly. "Well what do you want to know" I replied giving little, but just a little. "Everything" he replied with a boyish grin making a small laugh pass my lips. "Be a little more specific than that" I chuckled looking back down at my menu. "Fine, what do you like to do in your spare time? he asked, maybe i'll get the biscuits and gravy that is always good. "Um train mostly. Running, fighting, guns, knives, I like to be prepared for everything incase I'm ever in a situation where I cant shift" I answered flipping the menu over to read the back. "Training. So you're a warrior? I'm not sure how I feel about my Luna on the front lines" he spoke making me scoff. "Well good thing you won't have to find out huh" I replied resulting in my menu getting tipped down from in front of my face. "What is it about me? Do you think I'm ugly is that why your pushing me away?" he guessed never being more wrong. I may not like the whole mating bond idea but even I can deny he's handsome. He was about 6'4 give or take his body was lean but still well muscled, typical build for a young Alpha, his skin was tan which made his bright blue eyes pop and his dark brown hair made me want to run my fingers through it, but that I blame on the mating bond hormones. "Yes thats exactly it. I'm giving up my mate and a chance at leading one of the strongest packs in the country because you are out of my league. Do you really think I'm that shallow?" I demanded sarcasm seeping through my words. "Fine well if its not that than what? What is causing you to want to throw away something so sacred? Don't you think I deserve to know?" he urged making me sigh. Luckily the waiter walked up pulling a small notepad from her waist band. "What can I grab y'all this morning" she asked Nathan getting the pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns and toast, and I decided to go with the biscuits and gravy. "Don't I?" he reiterated once she walked away to place our orders. "Yes, I guess you do but not now, not yet. Hell I only met you 24 hours ago you have to give me some time here" I answered both of us staring at each other in silence for a moment. "Fine after this I'll give you space, not to much because I don't think Rider can handle that but some" he agreed making my eyebrows raise. "Rider?' I questioned realization crossing his face that I didn't know who he was talking about. "Sorry my wolf. He's a bit more eager than I am been begging me to jump your bones since we met" he spoke honestly making me laugh. "I can relate Snow is giving me an extremely hard time up here" I agreed pointing to my head. The rest of breakfast was fine conversation flowed, mostly about the pack or my mom. We had just pulled up at my house when his hand grabbed mine. " I'll see you tomorrow or maybe the next day who knows I'm trying out this whole, space, thing for the first time" he laughed. "Thank you for breakfast" I smiled leaning over to kiss him on the cheek. I made my way back into my house stopping in the kitchen as I saw a small box addressed to me. I opened it quickly pulling out a small silver daisy like the ones I got yesterday smiling I softly slipped the necklace back in the box and made my way to my room. I spent the rest of the day setting up a train room in one of the spare bedrooms and trying to convince myself that today really didn't change anything.
