Chapter 5

"Excuse me..." I said when the grip tightened. He looked at me so gently that I thought he had known me for a long time. "I apologize," he said and looked away. "I must've scared you," he uttered, and I tried my best to smile back at him. "Uhhh, kinda," and took a step back, "I'll go now," "Wait..." he stopped me and got something from the floor, "You must've dropped this," he said. It was a flower ornament. "No, it wasn't---" "Adelaide!" I looked back to see Damien rushing towards us with a very furious face. I bowed down. "Excuse me," I said and the man in front of me looked at me, like he didn't want me to go at all, but I ignored him. "Damien," I said and he held my hand, the first thing he did today. He was extremely agile compared to the man in front of me and that made me uncomfortable. "What the hell are you doing here, Zeke?" he asked with so much caution. The guy in front of us did not even falter and smiled at him. "I just dropped by..." he said, "What, miss me?" he asked with that mocking expression of his, like he was holding such a grudge against Damien. "Stay away from my fiancee," he said with a finality like what had happened before. "What if I don't want to?" he asked like he was asking for a fight. Damien glared at him. "Young Master, it's almost time to go," the butler-looking guy interrupted the heated conversation, like a pro, like he was always doing that between them. His cold demeanor suddenly looked different than before, and he turned into this cool guy that I have always had around. "Did it scare you?" he asked in a concerned voice which I really appreciated. Just a moment ago they were like a cat and dog that are willing to bawl each other out because of a heated argument. I sighed and held his hands. "You really were furious, weren't you?" I asked him and his face was really gentle. How could I get mad at someone like him? "It's alright," I assured him. He is constantly worrying about it. I can't make him worry about me and be a burden. I need to be of help instead. "Hmmn, alright. What did you talk about?" he asked politely. He is not the type to ask those questions, so it was new to me. "We just met tonight and he suddenly grabbed me," I answered, "It's no big deal. Why?" He froze and for a moment, I noticed that his eyes turned sharp. I don't know if it's just instinct or not, but I felt like he was so annoyed by that. We have known each other for three years now, since Sebastian died, but there is still so much that I don't know about him. "That bastard," he sighed, "I'll be giving you security from now on," he said, and my eyes turned serious at that declaration. "What?" I asked and he walked towards me. "I don't need a guard! I can handle myself---" "That man is dangerous," he said, "If he ever comes and bothers you again, I don't know what I might do," when he said that, I almost wanted to go with him. But I don't like it! "I don't like having a guard around," I said firmly, "If he is the problem, I won't go far without you at parties. Besides, these executive parties are just ones of our agreement, right?" I said, and he looked back at me. "Adelaide..." he said with a soft voice. "I didn't mean it that way..." "I know, but you cannot force me on something that I don't like," I stated firmly, "And please work on our agreement fast. My son is growing fast. I don't like him to assume that you are his father," I said, and he looked at me with sad eyes. "Adelaide," he called my name. That is right, I didn't agree with him to become the father of my child, and everything is just an agreement. "It's been two years," I stressed out, and that my son is already three years old. He remained silent and I sighed deeply. "I'll go now," he wanted to grab me, but he knew that he can't stop me. That's right, I need to end this as soon as possible. I opened my car door and saw the picture of Sebastian and I. We could have had a very good couple looking for each other. "Why did you leave me alone?" I asked him and softly brushed the frame, "Do you know how hard it is for me to be alone now?" I'm crazy, talking to a portrait. Even after all these years... I'm still begging God to give him back. *** "That damn Ezekiel!" he said and threw the vase to the floor, "He dare go near my Adelaide!" he said and lashed out at one of the mafia prisoners as he continued hitting the man with a baseball bat. "Ahhhh!" he cried out in pain, "Please stop! I'm begging you!" he said, but it seemed that Damien had no reason to stop. "Get me my gun!" he ordered and the people in the room immediately gave, it. "No, please! Please!" Bang! It splattered on the room. It was just horrible. *** "Welcome back, young master," the servants said as the car arrived at the big mansion of Dominguez. He tilted his head at satisfaction when he saw Adelaide again. He had been so protective of her for some reason that made him more suspicious of his actions. "Any news?" he asked as he walked towards the golden door in front. "Ms. Beatrice had dropped by, she left very furious," the head maid said. "Oh, who is she again?" "Your fiancee, young master," they said, and he chuckled. "Fiancee, huh?" he smiled and thought of an evil plan, "Invite her tomorrow. I want to talk to her," he said as he planned to do something ominous.
