Chapter 8

No... it must be a misunderstanding. That can't happen. Damien is not like that. "Adelaide," he called my name and I could feel his hands brushing against my hair. I tried to open my eyes despite the heaviness I could feel against my body, and the first thing I saw was his face. I immediately sat and accidentally slapped his hands away. "You..." I said and I knew that my eyes were... "What the hell did you do to me?" He did not answer and instead just looked at me eagerly. "Where are we?" I activated my defense mechanism. He sighed. "You are just imagining things, I didn't do anything to you," he rested his back on the headboard. Although it was dark, his silhouette with a pint of moonlight is so... perfect. "I need to go then," I said and stood up when he suddenly grabbed my wrist, and pulled me towards him. "Don't go," he said and I didn't know why at that moment I felt relieved in his embrace and blushed for a moment. But I knew this is... that I am just part of so many women by his side. "Stay like this for a while," he commanded, and as if I was under his control I remained still. I could feel his heart beating. "Okay..." I answered while remained in his arms. How long was the last time I was embraced like this? After a while, we both had calmed down and I was the one who let go. I sighed. "Did you eat?" he asked me with such a gentle voice. Come to think of it, I can feel my stomach groaning. "Uh, no..." I said and he stood up. "I'll go call someone to bring us food..." The room lit up and we both were facing each other while eating a steak inside the room. We had a lot to talk about. "Damien," I called him and his face softened more, it seemed that when I called him that he felt relieved for some reason. I also noticed that most people prefer to call him in honorary title. "What is it, Adelaide? You want wine?" he asked and stood up to pour me one. I also want it since it makes me calm down and helps me become firmer with the decision I came up with. Whatever is with him, I don't want to get entangled anymore. "Thanks," I said and gulped it like water, straight to my throat. I finished my food too. "You know..." I started it but felt the heat in my body. Maybe I had too much? But nonetheless, there is a more important matter to address. "Damien, I don't know how I ended up here. I trust that you are the one who brought me here, right?" I asked him. "Yes," he answered. That's when the atmosphere turned serious. "This agreement... is not working," I said straightforwardly, "We are successful in driving away the woman who has been chasing you, and I think it's time for you to really settle down." I told him but he seems unbothered. "That's why..." "I already gave you my answer," he told me and gently wiped the sides of his lips. "I will not terminate it," "That is not up to you, it was long due," I said and looked straight at him, "I want to get my private life back. This is not worth it anymore," He suddenly stands up, and the heat that I was feeling earlier is rising. "Don't you like me?" he asked me and looked at my eyes. "Stay away," I said because I could feel my blood rising, not the heat inside me when he came near, "Damien!" I said when he pulled me closer to him. "Don't you even have even small feelings for me?" he asked and rested his head on my shoulder, "I've been trying to get your attention all this time..." "W-what are you saying?" I blushed and I could feel his breath touching my chest. "I've always liked you..." he whispered and at the same time, he's breathing ragged, "That I've become so impatient..." he told me and started embracing me. "D-Damien, no..." I whispered and tried to push him away, but the more I did so, the more he tightened his embrace. He started kissing my neck... "Stop it..." I said and pushed him a bit strong, causing him to fall on the floor. "I'm sorry," I said and tried to help me but he just smiled at me. "I didn't mean to..." "No, no, I'm sorry too..." he said and brushed the back of his head, "You should go and rest now." and left hastily. I was left alone dumbfounded... and blushing. That's what I kept thinking the whole night. I decided to go to the terrace and look at the beautiful moon. Is this the sign? The chance being given to me to love again? *** "So you want me to befriend with Adelaide, Damien's fiancee?" she asked and grinned, "What the hell are you thinking discussing this with your fiancee?" she said and crossed her legs in front of him. "Are you up to it or not?" Ezekiel asked her and she grinned. "That's easy. But I don't think that a car is worth my life," "What do you mean?" "You know how obsessive that man is, knowing that I am your fiancee, he might kill me the moment he saw me and Adelaide together," she said and drank the tea served to her. "Why do you seem so surprise?" she asked and teased him more. Beatrice loves teasing him like he was her brother. Both of their family is one of the four rulers of the underground, and thus them getting married is for the good. "Is he that dangerous?" "Are you for real?" she asked and rolled her eyes, "I bet he is also the one behind the death of Adelaide's fiancee," she said and chuckled and the atmosphere inside the room has changed. "What did you say?" he asked with his eyes piercing her. She was taken a back by that reaction.
