(VIOLA’S POV)
“I can not wait for Friday.” Pat ended all that she was saying with that willful sentence and I could see her eyes twinkling in excitement. I shook my head at her. Evans was throwing a barbecue at his place and it was sort of like a welcome back to school party. Not like they would be doing anything relating to school activities but please teenagers just like an excuse to throw parties. And this one to me was an excuse for everyone to hook up together.
“You can’t wait for Friday because Evans walked up to you personally to hand you an invite.” I said to her pointedly.
We were both at my locker while I exchanged my books. Pat giggled at what I said and then she pushed her long blonde hair past her shoulders.
“He came up to invite us both remember?” She said but I could see that she was shy and I could tell that so many things were going on in her head.
“He just said Hy to me and he had his eyes on you even when he was doing that.” I had dug up the scene and so there was nothing that had escaped me. Plus it is not every day that I get to see Jenny looking shy and all silly. It is a very rare occasion and so I had to make sure that I watched the whole thing.
“He also held on to your hands while he gave you the invitation card with the details.” I still went on saying to her and batting my eyelashes at her jokingly. “I saw your fingers brushing against each other.”
“Oh stop Viola!” Pat said laughing but I am sure everyone could tell that she was loving it. “Stop, stop.”
“Really I could go on and on…” I was saying to her.
“Thank you but no thank you.” She said and then she smiled gleefully.
“Are you sure? I did see everything you know?” I said to her wriggling my eyebrows.
“Yes I’m sure Viola. I don’t need you reminding me of how you were watching us with such a funny look.” She said laughing.
“Okay ma’am.” I said to her jokingly.
She kept quiet and I did the same too while getting my books out.“He did have his eyes on me Huh?”
Evans Kyle is on the football team with Jake. I knew him because he was one of Jake’s buddies but I also knew him because Pat had developed a huge crush on him since last school session. I think that he likes her too because I notice that it is always too mushy whenever they are in the same place together.
Maybe he was shy, I was not sure of what it was but I knew that now was a golden opportunity for Pat. If Evans meant that invitation the way I thought he did, then after the party, there would be a lot more for us to talk about.
“Yes Pat. He did have his eyes on you.” I said to her as we now began to walk down the hallway. She squealed and clapped her hands together excitedly.
“I feel so happy.” She said to me dreamily.
“Yes Chloe I can see that. You look very happy.” I said to her.
“Now we need to celebrate.” She said and then she snapped her fingers. “Let’s go and have a drink or something.”
“I really want to.” I said to her “But I have to make a stop at Mr Kay’s office.”
“Mr Kay?” She said with an eyebrow going up. “I thought you both talked and all.”
“Well we actually did not finish talking about the the things that we needed to do.” I lied to her.
I felt very guilty about the fact that I was lying to Pat but then there was nothing I could do about this now. I had to keep it on a low and then tell her about it when I was sure that i knew what was going on. Now I had to find a way to deal with it. And I had fo see and Kay urgently.
“Do you want me to hang around? Wait till you’re done?” She asked me.
I smiled at her sweetly. “No it’s fine.” I said to her shrugging. “Mr Kay may just waste time and lag around you know. Why don’t you just go on and then I can catch up with you later? I will come around to yours and check on you later. Is that okay?”
“Of course it is.” Pat said and then she leaned forward and gave me a hug. “I will hold you up to it. So I am hoping that I get to see you later okay?”
“Yes ma’am.” I said to her patting her back as we broke our hug.
“Good now let me go and obsess about Friday which is just around the corner.” She said to me excitedly.
“Pat Friday is not just around the corner. Today is Monday.” I said looking at her with a look that said, ‘are you good?”
Pat rolled her eye. “Please do not ruin it for me okay?” She said to me and then blowing me a kiss she waved at me. “I will see you later okay? And don’t come with this your vibe that wants to ruin mine.”
With that, she had disappeared in to the crowd of students. When I could not see her anymore, I headed to the principal’s office. After taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door gently. And after a deep ‘Come in’, I turned the knob and pushed open the door letting myself in to the office.
“ Oh! Miss King.” Mr Kay said when he raised his head and he saw me.
