(THIRD PERSON’S POV)
The whole room was enveloped in what you would call a stiff silence. Both parties not in agreement with what was holding but held it in a fair place in their minds. They knew that at this point they were at a dead end. There was no coming out of this now and if they resisted, then they would be in big trouble.
“So is this agreed?” The head councilor said in a louder tone to the two leaders of both parties knowing fully well that they were both not satisfied with what they had to choose now. Well, he did not care the least about what they wanted and what they thought. The opposition and fight was long over due and it was time to move past days when things like this separated communities and brought about Conflict and dividing of resources that could be shared.
“It only seems fair.” The mayor of Starsvalley, John Rogers said shrugging.
“Yeah. We’ll work with it.” The leader of the bikers gang, Ted said too even though he did not look so pleased.
And then the ceremony commenced. There was shaking of hands and signing of documents and then many pictures taken and then more signing of documents. And before the end of the night, what could be refered to as a truce had been drawn and property shared as evenly as could be .
“Now for the last part, could each party may present the two children who we would be sending off for the exchange program.
After a few hustling and grumbling, one teenage biker stepped forward. The biker who had an unimpressed look on his face looked like he would rather be anywhere else. He said nothing as they all had eyes on him.
“I thought I am supposed to be seeing four children. Two from each community. Why do I see one unfazed boy?” The head councilor said looking from John to Ted.
“Well no parents would send their kids over to this-“ John started saying and then he stopped mid sentence. This earned a snarl From Ted.
“Nice of you to say. We could only squeeze out one and he still doesn’t want to go. They are scared of getting bored to death.” He said.
The two wanted to start arguing but because of the head councilor they stopped.
“Tomorrow. All kids.” The head councilor warned and then he turned to the mayor . “Now John I would expect that now you will be in charge of this young man…..”
The boy even though he knew that his name was to be followed now remained mute.
“Say your name boy!” Ted said in a loud growl. He was sick of being here already.
“Charlie.” The boy said still with no interest but with a hidden smirk. “ Charlie Dalton.”
The head councilor turned to John who stumbled forward to the boy.
“Okay. Welcome to Starsvalley Charlie Dalton.”
