“So your name is Isobel?” “Yes.” She tries taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, catching the scent of nervousness from his side on the air. I instantly put her at ease a little. “And you are Radagast Silver-fox from the Silver-fox coven.” “Yes.” A flash of something runs over his face but she can’t quite place the emotion. “Tonight however I would like to get to know my future wife.” he smiles “Oh, erm okay.” “Don’t you accept?” he asks looking confused “I... I don’t know... do you? How will your parents feel? We just met two minutes ago?” Isobel looks wide-eyed at him. “He is our mate! Are you freaking insane!” Mheegan growls at Isobel. “Say yes! Just say yes, you are our mate forever and ever and ever.” “Of course I accept, and I don’t care what my parents think. You were chosen for me by the moon goddess. She does not make mistakes. Don’t you believe in knowing who your mate is immediate without needing time?” “Yes... Sorry, I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed. You are so handsome, and... You can have your pick of any of the witches, yet here you are talking to me, a mere wolf?” “Ah, my darling. I am very sure that you are not just a wolf. I can see your magic floating around you. Everyone knows that the Lunar pack Alpha’s daughters are hybrids.” “Oh.” “I do have a personal question, why did you shiver when I put my hand behind your back?” “Wow, right to the personal stuff!” she blushes. “Uhm... You are making me a bit nervous.” There is a pause. “Every year we prepare excitedly for this evening, ready to meet our mates, but I have always prepared that my big sister would meet hers long before I met you. I am caught off guard.” “Are you unhappy with our match in any way?” “I don’t know... I don’t know you yet.” “Then I will court you first before our hand-fasting next festival.” He nods. “Oh okay. I would like that very much.” she smiles. “What kind of magic do you like doing?” “I am an air witch, so I am bound to everything to do with the wind and weather.” “Do you do spells and mix potions?” “No, not really. Mother has only taught us to use only our natural magic and not get into other things until we are older.” “Well then I will have to fix that, won’t I. Our coven witches learn how to do potions at age eight already. I can’t have my wife feel like she does not fit in.” he gives her a wink. They walk up to one of the stalls where you have to show your strength to win a bear. He has to whoo her until she is completely under his control or he will never be able to collect all five of them. He has to be the perfect gentleman... Walking away with an elephant with enormous ears she starts relaxing in his grip. “Have you eaten yet?” “Yes thank you. My pack will be moving to watch the hand-fasting ceremonies now if you would like to join them?” “That is something I would like to see. Wolves at a hand-fasting ceremony, I have never heard of such a thing!” They meet up with Melissa and Frank. Frank rolling his eyes at what is a clear match with the enormous elephant and even bigger smile on his daughter’s face while Melissa is ecstatic that her daughter has found her mate, giving her a wink. The entire pack knows by now, but congratulations are few and far between with Radagast being a wizard, making things strained on Isobel. He smiles at her, kissing her while they look at the hand-fasting, whispering in her ear. “Next year that will be us.” She talks him into doing the may-pole dance with her and after Circe ends up with the final lint they all go for a last cool drink before filling the buses to head home. “I do not want this evening to end,” he says as they walk over to the bus. “Me neither.” she sighs “You can come home with me and stay over at the castle. You will have your own private room and we will drive you home any-time you feel uncomfortable.” he looks hopeful. “I don’t know... I will have to ask my parents.” She looks nervous. She is eighteen years old and some wolves meet their mates at sixteen already. How does it look for a girl her age to still ask permission? “Of course. I would not expect anything less of a lady like yourself.” He gives a little bow smiling. “But etiquette requires I ask them if you don’t mind?” “No... Yes... No, sorry.” she blushes looking down. “I mean, I don’t mind at all.” Walking back to her parents in the coffee tent she feels torn between nervousness of going with a total stranger and spending the night and rather returning to the safety of her home. “Ah, you are back. How was your walk?” Melissa notices them first. “Yes, I see my daughter is returned to a happy state of mind.” “I, we have something to ask of you, Alpha, Luna.” He calls them by their titles trying his best not to show his disgust, he would have to keep up his facade until he has his mate at his side through hand-fasting. Even then he will have to play his game very carefully to win all the sisters. “If you would give your permission for Isobel to spend the night in the castle with me. She will have her own quarters of course. Trevor is with us and you have my word that both her dignity and safety are guaranteed. We, would just very much like to get to know her. She has me caught under her spell and I am in love already.” He manages a shy blush. “Isobel, is that what you want to do?” Frank asks her, waiting until she looks him in the eyes.
