Chapter 8 - Take chances

I was ready to walk out when I heard a whisper from behind. “It's time…” “Aaa, what was that?” Jemma asked, confused. “No idea. Let's just be on an alert, alright?” She didn’t answer and I could feel something was bothering her, but we didn’t have time for that now. I put my ring on the final touch, and I was ready. All four of us have a white gold ring with a stone on it. Every one of us has a different color. Mine is blue like my eyes. Damian is green. Colby red and Mats amber. That is kinda strange because they are twins, but I think it has something to do with the personality of the person that wears it. From the day HE sent me away and Damian followed with the twins. We didn’t belong to a pack. Making us automatically rogues. I don’t know why Damian came with me that day, but I could never repair him. He and the twins are my family. They have been with me along the way. Always protecting and loving me like I am their real sister. I don’t know what I would have done without them. I don’t know how exactly the rings work or how Damian got them but they allow us to link to each other like we are in a pack. Making things a little easier. I put on my coat and got ready to exit the room when I suddenly thought of something. Blakes bracelet. Quickly enough, I ran back into the bathroom and took it. It was a simple white gold chain with some small amulets on it. I could see a small crown, a teardrop, a half-moon, and small diamonds. I don’t want to lose it. It's so important to me …he is so important to me. “We also need it to cover our aura.” Jemma reminded me. “I know, I know. I just like it because it was a gift from him.” I said, blocking her out, and walked out of my room. “Wow” Mat said. “You look like a girl!” He mocked as I walked into the living room. “I am a girl you moron,” I said, crossing my hands, irritated. “Just kidding, sis, relax! You look beautiful.” Colby was silent. His jaw was clutching, he seemed angry. “Colby?” He didn’t say anything. He hadn’t taken his eyes off of me. After a couple of more moments in complete silence, he looked at Damian. ”I am coming with you..." That was a week ago. Colby never got to come with us. His attitude only pissed off Damian. The journey to Silver Claw territory was exhausting. Alpha Jason seemed a good man, from what I could tell. We never got the chance to speak to each other and I felt strange the whole time I was there. After returning, we packed our stuff and immediately relocated. The commendation Alpha Jason was preparing for us wasn’t ready so we had to stay in a hotel again. I wasn’t happy with the idea, but it was only for a couple of days. Today was the day we were supposed to start school and I dreaded the moment. "DAMIAAAAAAAN!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I rushed to the living room. Where I knew that Damian was getting his breakfast reading a newspaper. Walking in, all three of them glared at me. I probably look like a crazy person. "I am not wearing it!" "Oh yes, you are. It is a private school, Rori, they have rules!" "I don't care I am not putting it on!" I declared angrily. "Yes you are and the boys are too. Go get dressed. I will probably be gone before you come back. Here are your files and the boys also." I looked at the files on the table. "Great new name and identity again just perfect. I am so tired of this, " I said to Jemma. "I know but we have to. We can't risk being compromised, otherwise, all of our work will go straight down to the toilet. I don't like this. You know it, you can even feel it. But too many lives are at stake here." "Right." "Fine." I just said, turning around and walking back to my room. Ten minutes later, I was ready to go. I smiled when I deliberately pulled my skirt up, even more, putting my legs on full display just to piss Damian off. “How do I look?” I said, walking in front of the boys. Damian almost choked on his coffee. “T…that is the uniform I gave you?” He said in disbelief and I just nodded my head while he mumbled something under his breath while the boys growled displeased. I didn’t give them the chance to say a word. I just walked away. The boys stood up behind me and we all headed towards the jeep. Ten minutes later, we were in the school parking lot. Even though it was still early, the parking lot was full of cars. We parked away from the entrance and walked the rest of the distance. "Hello, I am Emily Hart. I am the daughter of the Alpha of Silver Claw. Welcome to Blackwoods High School and our little city!" A girl suddenly jumped in front of me and said with a smile on her face. "I am Jacob Simmons. Future Beta of the Silver Claw. We were supposed to meet with you earlier but someone didn't want to wake up today." He said, looking at Emily, whose cheeks flushed pink at his words. "It wasn't my fault, I just hate mornings." She murmured shyly. "Well, I know someone worse than you. Mat said, looking at me. What do you say, little sis?" He smirked. " She hates ....hm... I don't know if that is the right description of it. Resent with a passion to the point of breaking an alarm clock per day would be a better explanation." He added, making them both giggle. I didn't say a word. I just watched their exchange silently. "Thank you both for your help, but we don’t need it. You can tell your father you did a good job welcoming us. Now, if you excuse us, we have to get our schedules and find our classes!" I said with a cold tone. My curtness shocked them. They looked at each other having a silent talk as I walked past them with the boys on my tail. I could see Mat giving them an apologetic smile. "Wait," Emily shouted, making me turn around. "I already did that for you. Here are your schedules and here are your locker numbers and combinations. " She gave the three of us a paper sheet, looking at us shyly. I looked down to see the paper reading it and discovered she was telling the truth. "Why?" I asked her, lifting my brow. "Why?" She repeated, tilting her head to the side, confused. "Because you are new and I wanted to help. I thought we could be friends. I can show you around. It would be nice to have one friend here, right?" She said, hope filling her voice. "Listen, Emily, I am sure you are a very nice girl and thank you for helping us with our schedules and lockers, but I can assure you you don't want to be friends with me." My voice sounded a little harsh. "I don't have anything to offer you as a friend so you see you are much better without me." She was stunned. When I finished my speech, I turned around and started to walk again. "I knew she wouldn't want to be friends with me. Nobody does when they learn whose daughter I am." I heard her saying to her friend quietly. That kinda broke my heart, making me halt in my steps. "Well damn. Now I feel bad." Jemma said. "Me too, but what's the point if we are here for a year and then move again and never see each other? I don't really have the energy for this." "I understand where that comes from too, but would you like not to have met any of our friends?" Jemma questioned my logic. I mentally growl at her but that made her just smirk. "Fine," I said, excelling tiredly. I turned around, coming face to face with Matt, who was looking at me with worry in his eyes. "I am fine Mat." "I just want you to live again, Rori. You are cutting yourself off from any kind of attachment with people. A girlfriend will do you good, I think. Why just don't we give her a chance? Hm?" I had inverted my eyes at Colby, who hadn't said a word. "Colby?" I whispered. He looked at me silently for a moment and then said, "I get where this is coming from. I don't really care you know that, but I can get why you don't want to invest in new people again. It's your choice. I will support you either way." I took his hand in mine and gave it a soft squeeze. He was hiding something from me and, as much as I want to know what that is, he is not ready to share. I turned around to face the odd couple that was standing away from us. The boy was hugging the girl who was trying hard not to cry. I felt like an arse. I turned around, not believing what I was going to do next...
