Chapter 22: Working togetherThe entire evening went smoothly. Almost everyone present in the dome came to say goodbye to those who had died. We were listening to funny stories of their lives. The hardest moment for me came when Alarick and my father went to talk to their families, offering them support. The pain in their eyes was tearing my heart apart, torturing my soul. I wished I could bring them back, bring back their loved ones, especially since I had all of mine here with me.
“I am so sorry, ma’am,” I expressed my sincere condolences.
“Thank you, my dear.” she took my hand and squeezed it tightly. This little gesture made me feel so guilty. I tried to repeat what Alarick had told me several times over the past few days, but it didn’t help.
