Albi's Point of View
Even though I knew Hope was safe with Evelyn and Gracie, it still pained me to leave her. Galen whined as we charged towards the prison. I couldn't believe how much my priorities had changed in such a short space of time. It was crazy.
As we thundered towards the outbuilding, all thoughts of Hope had to be parked in the back of my mind. The sounds of screaming and coughing and the begging for mercy would not go unheard. Whoever was in there was in real trouble. Smoke from the fires was drifting up through the cracks around the door and the heat on the inside would have been absolutely unbearable.
As we reached our destination Galen c****d his head to one side.
'Every one of those voices is female.' He told me, sounding distressed. 'Why would that be?'
