Talking to dad

1284 Words
-Eric- "The Alphas want to speak to you about personal issues." Says Brent, and all eyes are on me. I'm playing poker with the twins, Jake, Kenneth and Brent. Rachel and the ladies are already in bed. "At this time?" I ask and he nods. "It’s about time they do." Anthony laughs, and when I look up from my cards I see them all grin. "Goddess. This can't happen." I say and shake my head. "What would you have thought then? You've seen it for yourself," Says Jake. And he's right. When we arrived, I already knew. How they looked at her, how she looked at them. That morning in the pool, I thought she was angry at my reaction. If she was my PA, how would I care what kind of a bikini she walks in? My response, I saw Kenneth startled and Anthony, Matthew, Jake and Brent shouted in my head not to do it, but it was too late. I thought that's why she didn't want to come down anymore. Until I saw her lying on the bed, until I pulled her against me. Then I felt it, her heart and her head arguing. From that moment on, I saw all the signals, everything except the fireworks, the tingling, but all their eyes, including those of Rach, were full of desire for clarity, but also for the men. "Are they in their office?" I ask and Brent nods. "When are you going to call your dad that her mates are sitting here?" laughs Kenneth and I shake my head. "First to them, then I call home." I say and Brent nods. "Let my father know that I have yet to speak to him tonight." All four Alphas are in the office and I sit on the couch with them. "Are you alone?" asks Justin. "I feel like this is going to be a personal conversation and the rest doesn't have to be there." I say and look at all four men. I got to know them as four very different men, all of them kind, friendly, authoritarian, real Alpha's and funny. The thought that it's four of them only makes me sick. Chris slides forward a bit on the couch. "uhm, we need to talk about the PA, Rachel." He says and I sigh, deeply, very deeply. "Maybe we're very sassy and we're going to cross all boundaries of decency, but we need answers." He says. "I don't know if I can give all the answers." I'll say honestly. "We know she's more than a PA, we see that in your reaction every time. We can see that in the reactions of the warriors," Says Max. He hung out more with the warriors than with me. "I'll be honest about everything." I start "Rachel is my sister." And four white faces look at me, with eyes the size of golf balls. "That explains why she was so shocked when I called her princess." James says, and my gaze is right on him. "why would you do that!?" I say, but I know why.. all men know why they do that. His hands shoot up and forward "Sorry, sorry. I talk too fast, without thinking." He apologizes. "Does it work differently for you?" asks Justin. "different than what?" I ask. " Finding your mate?" I swallow. I don't get it. "I have to speak to my father first," I say and get up. "We'll talk further tomorrow. I'll tell Rachel you know." No one says anything else and I leave the office. I walk with my mirror under my arm to the office I'm allowed to use here. I close the door behind me and place the mirror on the desk and close my eyes. When I open them, I see both my parents in the mirror. "Hi sweetheart." My mother says, but her smile disappears as soon as she sees my face and I see her worried look. "son" "Dad" "What's there Eric, so late, you're almost coming home." He says. "Yes, speaking of that. I think we should celebrate Rachel's birthday here. We plan to eat here first and when we take the plane back afterwards, we arrive on her birthday in the middle of the night. Then we're all tired on her birthday." I say. "What's going on Eric?" my dad's tone is stern. "uhm, I think Rach has found her mate." I say and look at my father's reaction. My mother also watches my father's reaction. His nostrils flutter up and down and his chest goes up and down. Yeah, ferocious. "YOU THINK!? WHY DO YOU THINK!!" he roars and my mother grabs his arms. "uhm, Arthur.." she says softly and I know this tone. She already knows this and my father knows this too. "WHAT DID YOU DO!?" he roars to my mother. She gets nervous. There's no need for that, right?. "Mom?" "oh godddess. Oh goddess." My mother closes her eyes and behind my parents I see the familiar blue stars and the yellow light. "Good evening everyone." "What are you coming here to do again?" My father reacts grumpily, as always when she comes. My mother's best friend. "I heard my friend's prayers and with all the recent developments with your daughter on a trip, I thought it wise to come myself." She says. My dad and I are quiet and my mom starts to tell. About my angry father, about her question to Selena. "Does Rachel know this?" I ask and my mother nods. " Since?" "The morning at the pool incident," answered Selena, and I feel guilty all over again. "Swimming pool? Incident? What pool Incident!" of course, my dad didn't know. I briefly explain to them what happened at the pool, after which my mother tells them that she spoke to Rachel. To which Selena says that it took Rachel two days to get herself back on her feet and we all feel guilty about that. "Okay." Says my father. "Back to what you called for. Her Mate, is it something or.." "Ho Stop!!" Calls my mother. "It's fate, it doesn't matter what you think of it, or what Eric thinks. We accept it as it is." I grin at my mom. She knows it's four and is okay with it. I look at Selena, the instigator of all this, the determiner of fate. She knew this moment was coming. Now my father.. and I brace myself for the bomb that bursts and I thank Selena tonight when I go to bed that I am here and not there. "Yes, I totally like it. They're very nice, sociable, alpha men, have things in order down to the last few things. I couldn't have chosen better myself." I say it and I mean it, although it stings that there are four, but I couldn't have found a better Mate for her myself and I even think of all the Alpha's I've come across on this trip that this could have been friends of mine. "THEM? WHY THEM? AS IN SEVERAL?" "Yes Dad, several." "As in two?" I shake my head. "Are you making a joke!? Is it three?" I shake my head again. "Eric!" His voice is stern, warning and I know I have to say it out loud now. My mother bites her lip. Something that Rachel also does when she gets nervous. "It's four, four Mates Dad. Quadruple." I say and the last thing I hear is screams and growls and the image bursts and I see my own face. "Well, that went perfectly fine." I tell myself and pick up the mirror to walk back to my own suite.
