CHAPTER TWENTY ONE Standing outside the Greenwich police precinct interview room, ready to question the d**g dealer, Stella checked the time. It was seven-thirty p.m. She felt a flash of anxiety. The evening was wearing on. There were only a few more hours left if they were going to solve this crime today. So much hinged on this interview. She hoped she hadn’t made a terrible mistake. Her misgivings were not helped by Carrie, who marched down the corridor toward her, hissing out a warning as Stella reached for the door handle. “Do you really think this is wise?” Carrie seethed. She looked angry, but also fearful, as if Stella’s reckless actions might compromise the entire investigation. “We’re filling up this building with people who don’t have any direct link to the crime!
