10 - Seth's Gift

Benjamin “I’m sorry, Dad,” Seth said, “I’ll knock next time.” I had to admit he was getting less hot-headed and more respectful as time passed. I wouldn’t say I was proud of him, but he was improving. “What is it?” I sighed. Today was already such a long day. “Do I have to go to this stupid ball thing?” he asked, crossing his arms. “Your mate might be there.” “I don’t give a f**k about my mate. I want to have more fun before I settle down.” “Well, go find someone to have fun with tonight, then.” I was exasperated. “You’re going to the ball. Our family image is everything, and visiting packs must see my whole family in full effect.” I looked at him. This conversation was over. “You mean our family? It’s not just yours.” He pointed out. “I did find an Omega that I’m dying to have some fun with. A feisty little thing, but I’ve only seen her once.” He shrugged. “What does this alluring Omega look like? She must be special for an Alpha’s son to be pining over her.” I mocked him, leaning back in my chair. “Just someone that needs to be taught a lesson about her rank.” He smiled at me. Finally, my son was stepping into his Alpha shoes. “She had reddish-brown hair, large green eyes, kinda short, but definitely has some curves." He paused, his eyes far away with a wicked smile on his face. "I didn’t catch her name.” I swear if he was thinking about Isla. I didn’t know she existed until a few days ago, and she’s managed to get on everyone’s radar. “Where did you see this girl?” “She was cleaning my bathroom at the beginning of the week, I think Monday?” I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. That confirmed it. That was the same day I caught her snooping around my office. She was really pretty now that I thought about it. A heart-shaped face and a pouty mouth that just begged for my c**k to be put inside it. Maybe I could have some fun with her before she died. “She’s actually getting banished tonight,” I said. I told him and Meghan that she was getting banished as a rogue. The more people that knew the truth, the messier it got. There were a lot of secrets I had to keep as an Alpha, even from my own family. Julianna was the only one who knew most of the truth about me, and even she didn’t know everything. It's really the only reason that I have to stay on her good side. I sighed, thinking about this afternoon and how she freaked out because of Meghan. I was going to have to make it right before tonight so that we could show a good front to the visiting packs. Julianna seemed like a good choice at the beginning. She was of good blood and waited for me to come into my own. By taking on a chosen mate, I didn't have to worry about actual emotions or feelings and could focus more on running my pack as I saw fit. The fewer weaknesses, the better. “Oh.” Seth looked dejected. Then a sick smile widened his face. “It would be rude to have her banished as a virgin, wouldn’t it?” I might as well give him this, as he’s not going to get the Alpha title anytime soon; it might appease him for a while longer. “Fine,” I said after a short pause. “You get ten minutes with her.” She would die soon anyway, so who cares how her last few minutes are spent on this earth as a free woman? “What, no? Ten minutes is barely enough time to do anything, let alone what I want to do to her. I want at least an hour.” He complained. “Son, we don’t have that kind of time. Fifteen minutes.” “Thirty,” he retorted. “Twenty.” I sighed. “Fine,” he agreed, annoyed but smiling. “Meet me in the training clearing at midnight. You have twenty minutes with her, and then you leave, and I’ll take care of her.” Depending on how she does with Seth, I might have time for a bit of fun myself. Isla I had never seen this much activity around the place. Everyone was bustling about, stress evident on all the Omegas' faces. As chaotic as it was, I couldn’t help but feel a bit excited, knowing that I had tonight to look forward to with Abigail by the lake. As much as I hated to admit it, I was curious about what present she was saving for this birthday. I was also extremely excited to meet my wolf finally. I wasn’t sure what time of day I was born, so I had been expectantly waiting since the moment I woke up. Abigail thankfully got us both assigned to kitchen duty and today, that meant preparing a lot of pastries for the weekend. Not our strong suit, but we made do, hoping no one would notice our lopsided croissants. Everyone fell into comfortable chatter once we settled into our assigned tasks. The two girls working next to me were gossiping, not so discreetly. I was happy enough working in silence, waiting for my second cup of coffee to kick in. “I heard The Luna yell at Meghan, and then he kicked them both out.” “You shouldn’t be listening in! What if he caught you?” “It wasn’t me that was listening. I heard this from Anna.” “What else did she say?” “Apparently, The Luna was calling Meghan all these names and wanted her to leave and not be alone with the Alpha, something like that.” “Ooh drama, do you think The Luna knows he’s sleeping with her?” “Do you think the Alpha is actually sleeping with Meghan?” “How else would she have gotten the lead Omega role?” “Good point; she's useless.” They both laughed.
