CHAPTER 5
THE GENERAL AND the admiral walk out of the office into the open air. They each take a deep breath to clear their heads. A black SUV sits in front of the building. They stroll to the vehicle. The driver sees the two approach, exits the driver’s side, and comes around to the passenger side, where he snaps to attention.
“Take Admiral Parker to Quarters 23, Airman. He will be our guest for the week. As he is without staff, I’m assigning you to assist him as needed.”
“My pleasure, sir.” The airman opens the front door for the admiral.
Once inside the car, Parker makes a call to his assistant at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
“Hello, Dan.” The admiral smiles when Dan greets him and asks if he had a good trip.
