PARKER PICKS UP the packet Wade left for him. The man died for this, but why? He studies the photographs and focuses on the one showing the Secretary of State and General Miller. It’s not the Harry S Truman building in D.C. The windows are different. Half a street sign exposes the location as New York City. Why would either of them go to the City, and who’s the other guy? Parker shutters at the connections he makes and remembers what the Secretary of Defense said: we can’t eliminate evil, we can only contain it. A big part of our job is to maintain the balance. With renewed determination, he decides to set aside his fears and do his part.
