GENERAL TAYLOR CALLS Gruner. “Sergeant, I need your help.”
“Anything you need, sir.”
“Thank you. Can you come to my office now?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Great. Bring your laptop.” He looks over at Parker. “You’ll check the parking lot cameras?”
“Correct. I must know if one of our own killed Wade.”
“Just when I thought we’d narrowed in on this case, it explodes again.”
“Did you believe Dennis?”
“Which part?”
“That we’re dealing with the forces of good and evil.”
Taylor rubs his chin. “Until today, I hadn’t thought of it that way. But listening to the secretary and then Wade, I got chills. They almost parroted each other, which is scary in and of itself.”
