“I will tell you everything Cathrine, I promise, but you have to trust me, okay?” Chase begged as he was holding my hands. He looked me deep in the eyes, until I broke the eye contact.
“I don’t know if I can,” I mumbled. I stared at the floor until he pushed my chin up, so I was looking at him.
“Please try,” he pleaded. I sighed deeply, as I nodded.
“I can try” I spoke. A smile came across his face. As he touched my cheek with a slow movement. His face suddenly became tense.
“Clarissa told me what happened with Adam.” He seemed furious. I tried to turn away, but he laid his hand on my face.
“Don’t hide it from me.” He spoke, as he was waiting for an answer.
“I really don’t wanna talk about it. I have left him, and as soon as I’m on my feet again I’m going back to my hometown.” I proclaimed.
A flash of anger, and hurt, came across his face. His eye suddenly shifted again, and he closed them for a moment, to collect himself.
“You can’t just leave!” He stated. He turned his face back towards me.
“I can’t stay either, there is nothing for me here. Don’t you see that?” I argued. He raised from his seat.
“No I don’t! You have Clarissa, and you have me..” his sudden outburst startled me. He walked out the door, as I sat back in shock. Why was he acting so possessive towards me? We weren’t dating or anything, even though I found him very attractive, I didn’t know if I could trust him. I laid my head on my pillow and I felt like screaming, but my body was so exhausted, and soon I fell to sleep.
I woke up and looked at the clock. It was 9.00 pm. I walked out the room to find the bathroom. As I was done, I heard someone was coming.
“Do you even have a plan? I heard a voice growl angrily. I hid in the bathroom, but I could still hear everything. I looked through a small c***k in the door.
“No, but it doesn’t concern you anymore” Chase growled back. The person he was talking to was Brad.
“As your Beta, it’s my duty to...” Chase grabbed his shirt and threw him against the wall.
“As your alpha, I command you to stay out of it! You lied to me, Brad, and for that, I don’t trust you anymore!” He scolded. He let go of Brad and started walking away.
“I did what, I thought, was right for this pack! For f*ck sake, Chase, she is a human!” Brad scoffed. Chase turned around. His eyes were dark. He pushed Brad to the floor.
“Don’t you ever talk that way about my mate, or I’ll kill you myself!” He threatened. Then he walked out. My heart was pounding a hundred miles an hour. What did he mean by that I was “only human”? And what was an Alpha? I looked again and saw Brad was getting up and about to leave, when he suddenly stopped and started sniffing at the air. He looked at the bathroom door and narrowed his eyes. I quickly walked backwards, holding my hand over my mouth, I was hoping he didn’t hear me, but suddenly the door opened, and Brad smirked as he saw me.
“So we got ourselves a little spy, huh?” He walked up close to me as he cornered me. He lifted my chin up, and I spat on him.
“F*ck you!” I hissed, as I tried running, but he quickly grabbed my arm by the elbow. His grip was so tight it felt like he was trying to break my arm. I fell to my knees, as I screamed.
“If you are so nosey, I’ll show you in on a little secret!” He yanked me up, as he walked down the hallway, dragging me along behind him.
“Let me go Brad, it hurts” I whimpered, trying to free myself from his grip. He smirked as he looked at me, still forcing me to follow him.
“Oh, but you don’t wanna miss out on this!” His tone was daring, which worried me. He pulled me in to a room and over to a window. I looked down at the big field. I saw Chase standing there with his parents, Clarissa, and rest of the people. I was confused.
“What is it, you want me to see?” I hissed, as I tried to get free from him. He put one arm around me and the other one he held on to my face, to make me look at the window. He put his face all close my ear.
“Just watch.” He whispered. I could feel his breath, and I was shaking all over. Suddenly, I saw the people started to howl and one by one they all turned in to wolves. Brad started chuckling.
“So, what do you think?” He scoffed at me, as he turned me around. I was scared and wanted to run away. I knew he wanted me to be scared, but I wanted to avoid giving him that satisfaction. But still, he could see the fear in my eyes, as I trembled by his touch.
“W..what a..are you?” I stammered. He seemed pleased by my reaction. He pushed me down on the bed. I couldn’t move, I felt like frozen to the spot.
“If you behave nicely, I might tell you” he scoffed as he crawled on top of me. He put his face towards my neck and breath in through his nose.
“Get away from me, you creep!” I said as I squirmed my head to the side. He chuckled by that, and like nothing he ribbed my shirt, so my breasts came in to view. I was petrified, as he ran his hands over my body.
“For a human, you really have a divine scent” he almost moaned, as he licked my stomach and up over my breasts and all the way to my neck. I felt sick to my stomach and when he didn’t pay attention for a moment, I quickly kicked him in the groan.. He felt to the side, so I quickly ran to the door.
“You b*tch, I am going to kill you!” I heard him yell at me. So, I ran for my life, out of the head door and in to the woods.
As I turned to look behind me, I saw Brad running after me. His eyes were pitching black. I was more scared than I had ever been before and ran, as fast as I could.
I ran through the forrest I suddenly fell, as I tried to get up I saw Brad turning in to a Wolf like the others had done. His canines were showing and were glittering in the light. As he ran towards me, I closed my eyes and covered my face. But suddenly, I heard whimpers. Another wolf had come up and knocked Brad over and bitten him before he jumped at me.
As the Wolf walked over towards me, I crawled backwards, but it suddenly turned in to a human.
“C.. Chase?” I stammered lowly, as tears ran down my face.
“Are you okay, Cathy? He asked with a worried voice. I tried covering myself, but to no vain. He quickly ran to one of the threes, as he picked up a bag with a jacket in it. He came over and laid it around me, so I was covered up.
Soon after, other wolves started appearing. Chase could feel I was shaking as I couldn’t get myself to stop crying.
“I shouldn’t have left you back there alone, I’m truly sorry Cathy” he apologized. He picked me up and as he did, I clanged to him, and I began feeling safe, as his smell ran through my nostrils. I got some courage to ask him.
“How c..can yo..u all be w..ol..wolves” I stammered. He sighed for himself.
“I wanted to tell you, when you got better, but I probably have to do it now.” Clarissa and his parents came running over.
“What happened!?” his mother quickly asked. Chase growled as he made his head point at Brad on the ground.
“He did, I want him thrown out of this pack!” He roared. His dad laid his hand on his shoulder.
“Easy son, I will take care of this, you have to make sure that your mate is all right now. You can deal with him later.” He replied sternly.
Chase nodded as he calmed himself down, by focusing on me. He carried me in to the house. Clarissa and their mother followed, as their father called some other men to pick up Brad, who were still laying on the ground.
Chase put me down on the sofa and turned to look at Clarissa.
”Cassy, can you get her a new shirt?” He asked. She quickly ran to her room to get one. I started crying.
“I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have listened to your conversation. This is all my fault” I blurred out. Chase looked at me confused.
“This is not your fault at all.” his mother interrupted. Clarissa came running down the stairs, with a Blue hoodie in her hands.
“Here you go, Cathy.” She spoke with a comforting smile. I took it on quickly, but I was still looking down to the floor. Somehow, I couldn’t get myself to say anything.
“Can I have a word alone with her?” He looked to his mom and Clarissa, who both nodded. She placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Remember to behave yourself, she is probably frightened to death right now.” She sternly told him. He didn’t answer. As soon as they had left, he asked me with a concerned voice.
“What happened, and what did you mean by listening in on a conversation? I avoided his eye contact, but he tilted my head, so my eyes met his. “I..I didn’t mean to be listening, it kinda just happened,” I tried to explain. As tears were spilling from my eyes.
“I was in the bathroom and..and then I heard you two fighting in the hall.. I got scared, so I didn’t say anything..sniff..somehow Brad noticed I was there and..then..” I couldn’t get myself to say it, but Chase observed me.
“Then what happened, Cath?” He said with a low voice. I could feel his anger, as he tried controlling it.
“He..he forced me to watch you shift from a window at the top floor, and then he did this..” I couldn’t stop crying, as I told what happened.
He suddenly growled loudly, I felt my body flinch in fear, as I saw his eyes started to shift.
“Please don’t be mad at me!” I cried as I clamped my eyes shut. I surely believed he would yell or something, but instead he put his arms around me and comforted me. As I put my face against his chest, I was met by a smell reminding me og newly cut grass. It somehow made me calm down a bit.
“I’m sorry if I scared you, I’m not mad at you.” He told, still holding me close to him. I could feel him calming down, too, as he put his face to my hair.
“B..but, why did he do it?” I asked him. I pulled away, so I could look into his eyes. He sighed.
“He probably wanted to scare you away..” he closed his eyes, as if he thought of, what to say next, before he returned his eyes to mine.
“We normally don’t engage with humans, Cathy.” He explained sternly. I tipped my head to the side, looking confused at him. “We are werewolves, Cathy.” My eyes widened at his response.
“That’s not possible!” I suddenly blurred out. I pulled away, and stood up a few feet from him.
“Is that why I feel attracted to you?” I asked. He raised an eyebrow and walked towards me. I took one more step backwards, but he quickly caught up with me, so I paused.
“No, you feel this..” he explained, as he stroked the back of his fingertips down my cheek and slowly all the way down my arm.
With every touch, I felt fireworks and goosebumps all over.
“.. Because of something called a mate bond.” He smirked as a soft moan unwillingly left my lips, and I quickly put a hand over my mouth in embarrassment.
My face had probably turned red like a tomato, so I looked down at my feet to hide from the humiliation I felt. He proceeded to run his fingers through my hair.
“Look at me, Cathy.” He ordered. I bit my lip, as I turned to look at him.
“You don’t have to be embarrassed or scared of me, I only want you to feel safe and happy.” He told with a calm voice.
