I was expected to make an appearance at the McCloud residence since Adeline decided to grace us with her presence. The runt has been gone 15 years. I dragged my feet down the road to the old white farmhouse. I needed to talk to my Beta anyway. Alec had taken the spot after Adam turned me down. He didn't give me a reason, but I suspect it had something to do with Adeline.

The house came into view as I grew closer with every step. I could hear the soft giggles of Adam's girls from where I stood in the yard. I had a lot of memories in this old house. After my own mother died in a rogue attack, this place had become a sanctuary of sorts. Emily, Alec and Adam’s mother, became like a second mother to me.

I walked up the steps and through the from door, not even bothering to knock. I wasn’t prepared for the most mouthwatering scent I had ever smell tickled my nose. As I drew closer to the kitchen, the smell got stronger.

"Do you smell it?" Zeus said in awe. "It's her! It's mate!"

No. Please God no. I knew who it was. Hell, there was only one person it could be. I'd take anyone else. Anyone. Just not her. I slowly made my way to the kitchen to find Adeline, wearing a frilly pink apron. She had Haven and River on either side of her, beating some kind of batter in a mixing bowl with flour littering her pink cheeks. She had a gentle lilt to her voice that floated on the air towards me.
