Adeline When I went looking for my father wasn't expecting to find Asher as well. The look of surprise on his face told me he wasn't expecting to see me either. My instantly schooled my face and looked to my father. "Daddy, we need more cots in the meeting hall to accommodate all the soldiers. Hazel and I have already laid the linens out." I said, avoiding Asher's lingering gaze. "Thanks, pumpkin. I'll get one of the boys to bring some more out of storage." I smiled at my father and turned to walk away. "Addy, wait!" Asher called out, but I just kept walking. I could hear him stumbling to catch up. "Addy! Addy, will you wait a minute?" I turned around. "What?" I snapped. "Can we just talk? Please?" He pleaded. "I don't want to talk to you." I said shortly and turned back around.
