Chapter Ten

Luca     Her kisses were like oxygen. Her lips soft, just as I knew they would be. If anyone in the world was made for me then it was my little English Rose, she might not know it yet, but I did. I had known it my entire life. She was always meant to be mine.  And she felt something as well, I knew she did. I saw it in the way her eyes sparkled when she looked at me. She thought I wasn’t looking but I never took my eyes off her.  This was more than just a holiday romance I was sure of it. This was a promise. A debt I planned on collecting. She was mine. “Luca” Her breathy little accent made me groan against her lips. The sooner I got her under me the better, as soon as that happened, I was confident I would get to keep her. She was smart and beautiful and sweet. Everything I didn’t know I needed. The perfect balance for me. “Luca” She tried again, moving her face away, and I loved the way her pale cheeks flushed.  “People are staring at us” “Let them stare” My lips were too busy trying to recapture hers to pay any attention to what was going around me. “No, I mean some are really staring” Glancing about, I narrowed my eyes. “Its just my men, making sure there isn’t a threat. Don’t worry about it” “Threat? I don’t…” Her eyes went wide. “Actually, I don’t want to know. I think the less I know the better” A grin split my face. Clever girl. “Best if you don’t” I watched her face close down. She at least suspected what I was, though she never asked. Not even when I made jokes about her being a gangsters girl. She wasn’t just clever she was perfect.  “Want to get out of here?” I had a schedule to keep to, a schedule she made nearly impossible by being late and just a little bit drunk. Though the fact that the cocktails I had been buying her had all been virgins. I had no interest in drunk girls. Not even cute English ones. “Luca” Her voice held warning, her look sharp. She was definitely sobering up. “I know I know” I held up my hands in surrender. “No s*x, s*x is totally off the table” I grinned down at her, keeping my eyes on her face and away from the swell of breasts she had somehow managed to push up and together into appetizing little mounds. s*x was definitely still on the table. In fact, if I had my way, we would be having s*x on a table. The thought made my grin widen. “You know I’m happy with our kisses” I brushed my lips over hers again to emphasize my lie. I was so not happy with just kisses. Who would be when they had such a sweet little morsel in their arms. Each kiss was torture. But I could be patient, for a little while longer. To rush her would only drive her away. I needed to be sweet, to make her think I was a man like her. Wholesome. Someone unlike myself in every possible way. “You are?” She muttered something under her breath and my smile grew. She might be sweet, but she was a woman with needs. this was hard for her as well. I was sure of it. “If they are from you yes” I raked a hand through my hair, tousling it slightly. “Shall we? I have something I want to show you” She slipped her hand into mine, her palm warm.  “Ok” She was so trusting. So out of her league it was almost painful. I nodded once to Stefano and his smile was a flash of white in the darkness. “So where are we going?”  She was tottering on her heels as she tried to keep up and I automatically slowed my pace. “It’s a surprise” I whirled her in my hands, kissing her squarely on the lips. “Have I mentioned how much I like this outfit” I ran my hands down her sides, fingertips brushing the sides of her breast and she shivered slightly. Good girl. “Once or twice” Her eyes narrowed. “Are we going for a drive?” There was a note of hesitation in her voice. “Should you be driving if you have had a drink?” “We don’t have to go far” I brushed my lips against her knuckles as the elevator doors shut. If I kissed her lips now, I wouldn’t be able to stop, not when we were alone. I would push her up against the wall, and my hand would be up and under that sinfully short skirt in seconds.  “Trust me?” “I know I shouldn’t, but for some reason I do Luca Moretti” “I feel it too Alice, this thing between us” At least that wasn’t a lie. This attraction wasn’t a lie. “I wish we could see where this could lead…” I left the rest unsaid. “But I’m leaving” She said it so matter of factly and for a moment rage engulfed me. She had a life to get back to. A life thousands of miles away from me. But if she thought escaping was going to be that easy, she was sadly mistaken. I wasn’t some holiday fling she would be allowed to forget. “Oi” The voice was masculine and loud, and I stopped dead only feet from the elevator doors. I could see the cars lining the underground parking garage but for a second I couldn’t see who had shouted. Alice gave a little scream and my eyes followed hers.   The gun was pointed directly at her head, her eyes wide and terror filled. “Take that gun off the lady” My voice was deathly quiet. A bad sign for whatever imbecile had his gun pointed at Alice’s head. “Luca” Her voice was desperate, but I barely noticed as I stepped in front of her and lunged all at the same time. One hand gripping our assailants wrist forcing his hand up and away. The gun going off sounded like an explosion and Alice screamed, cowering back against the wall with her arms over her head. The crack of his nose was loud as my fist connected with its target and his grip on the gun loosened. I took it easily enough. Using it pistol whip him across the face. And Alice started screaming.
