CHAPTER NINE The first name on Stella’s list, right at the top, belonged to Ollie Small, who lived in a townhouse in Ridgewood. She was now standing outside this home, under the sheltered porch, in the pouring afternoon rain. Being first on the list, Stella wondered if Ollie was a good friend of Clint’s. Unless he’d decided to hide his friends near the bottom of the list to protect them, she revised. She knocked, and a minute later, the door was opened by a harassed-looking, forty-something year old woman who Stella guessed must be Ollie’s mother. “Are you Mrs. Small? I’m Stella Fall from the FBI,” she said. The woman paled. “You’re from where?” she repeated in a soft voice. “From the FBI, investigating the murder,” Stella elaborated.
