CHAPTER EIGHT Half an hour later, Stella pulled up outside Desiree’s home in Hartford. She felt impatient to know why Walter was in such a rush, and wished she’d been able to get to Hartford faster. Since they were under pressure of time, and the YD offices were a block away from her home, she’d dropped Maxwell there to interview Desiree’s co-workers. Stella would be going solo on this interview, and as she climbed out of the car, she reminded herself to be alert for any signs that Walter was trying to lie. The home was located on a quiet, suburban street. It was a serene and beautiful area. The gracious homes on the street had sweeping front lawns, and a backdrop of tall trees and homestead elms.
