CHAPTER FOUR An hour and a half later, Stella and Maxwell arrived in Putnam. The address they were looking for was beyond the town center, and seemed to be in a rural area, but Stella was charmed by the town itself as Maxwell detoured down the main street to pick up some bottles of water along the way. Set alongside what she saw was the Quinebaug River, the town itself was quaint and historic, filled with a mix of antique stores and art galleries, eateries and entertainment venues. “It used to be an old milling town, I believe,” Maxwell said.
