Chapter 2
Making it to the human world, I stopped to rest for a moment, I know I shouldn’t have brought all the stuff that I did, but I wanted to make sure I had enough to get me through until I could find a job and all of that. But right now I need to find a place to stay, the sun is going down and I know my mate is going to send someone after me. I just hope they don’t find me right away, I don’t know what he is going to do to me, but I know it's going to be bad.
“Wow, this is it?” Mona asked. “I thought it was going to be bigger.”
“This is only a small part of the place, I am sure when we are in there you are going to freak out some more, and well don’t worry it's safe. Now we have to find us a place to sleep and then I have to find some kind of work.”
“So where are you going to stay, maybe we should walk in a little more. In case the Alpha already knows we’re gone.”
“Do you think he knows?” I whined. “I don’t want to have to run from him again, but I know I will if we have to.”
“No.” she smiled. “I think we’re safe for now, but I think you should at least get a hotel in the middle or somewhere away from here,” she whined.
She is right, if we want to blend in because he does come here then I guess we’re going to have to walk for a while longer. I am exhausted but I am glad to be free of that pack. I didn’t renounce myself, so I am not a rogue so I hope that doesn’t cause issues. I don’t want my Alpha coming here because he can smell us, but I know we are going to be safe for a while.
Maybe he won't notice that I am gone for a while and then that gives me more time to find another city. This city is a nice place, but I am not making my home here, I have to keep going. I don’t want to run the rest of my life, but I will do what I have to.
Walking through some of the streets, I was beginning to think I was going the wrong way. The place keeps getting worse and worse and there are people all over the place.
“Maybe I should go down another road, I don’t know where this is leading but I have a feeling it's not going to be nice,” I said to Mona. “Are you threatened?”
“I am not,” she said shaking her head. “But you are, why don’t you turn here I am sure there is something better that way.”
I did as she told me to, and it did get nicer and well I found us a good hotel. They didn’t even question me about my age, which is something I am happy about. I don’t know if I should stay the entire month that I set myself up here for but I am hoping we can find an apartment and job or something better than this.
We managed to get to my room and I didn’t like it. It smelled of old stale food and that is something I don’t like. “I am going to have to get something to cover all this nasty stuff up,” I said looking around. “I hope I can find a good job that way we can get a better room.”
“Well, it's better than nothing,” she said watching what I was looking at. “Just have to watch out for bugs, but if you let me out I can scent the room.”
“Yeah no.” I sighed. “You know if we do that you are going to give us away, and I don’t want to be dragged back to the pack. I know Tate is going to come and look for us, he isnt going to be too happy either when he finds out my parents knew I was leaving.”
“They don’t?” she questioned.
“I left them a note, I know he is going to show up. I told them where I was going, but I told them the wrong city because I don’t want him coming because you know he will if he knows where we’re going.”
“So you are taking a chance to have him come and find us, are you crazy?” she whined. Now she is starting to panic. I don’t understand why she is doing this, but I guess she is worried for me. “He is going to come now.”
“He doesn’t know we came here,” I said rolling my eyes. “But if you want to worry about that then be my guest, he isnt going to find us for a while if at all. I am hoping that I can figure out how to save all of the money that I can and be out of here in a few months.”
“You know he is going to find us right?”
“No,” I growled. “Can you stop doing this, or I am going to lock you out? We’re going to be safe, and if we get caught I am sure we’ll figure out how to get away from him.” I said before I shut her out.
I know she is going to worry about all of this because she doesn’t know how smart or dumb this Alpha is, but he isnt going to find us. I know he is going to try but he is going to fail. I know I have to be careful especially since there are a lot more people around here, but I don’t feel like there are wolves here that are going to bother me.
If I come across some then I am going to pretend like I don’t have one, yeah they might not fall for that but I don’t care, they are going to leave me alone anyways. I am not going to be walking around the town looking for trouble either, we’re only going to go out for work and food and anything else I guess I could order.
Taking a shower and lying in bed, I needed to sleep a little. I am hoping it's not going to take me long to find work. I am a little worried that no one is going to hire a kid, but I guess we’re going to have to go out and figure this out.
When I woke up, it was dark outside already. I felt weird being here now that I am rested. I know it's going to take some time to get used to, but I like it here. This room is dirty and small, but it's better than a prison. I know I am going to get out of here as soon as I have enough money to upgrade the hotel.
“Good morning,” I said to Mona, but she didn’t turn to face me. “I am sorry about last night, I was tired and you were whining about the Alpha coming to find us, but I don’t think he's going to find us. I don’t even think he is going to look for us, I am sure he is going to find someone better than we are.”
“Well, it still doesn’t help that you don’t seem to care about him coming here. I don’t want to worry about him coming here because then he just going to hurt us, we ran away from what he wanted and he isnt going to like that.”
“Don't worry about it, I am sure he doesn’t care that we’re gone. Maybe that was his way of telling me that if I felt like I didn’t want to be with him and do what he wanted then I could run, and I did. So stop worrying because you are going to make it harder for me to get a job with your worrying.”
“Sorry.” she sighed. “I will try and not worry about all of this, but I know it's going to be something we have to worry about. That and other wolves let him know there is a wolf that belongs to his pack.
“Trust me I have covered everything, that is why you cannot come out. Even if you feel like I cannot handle it, you have to stay hidden.” I whined at her. “I know that is going to be hard especially because you know I am weaker than most.”
“I don’t think you are weak,” she said shaking her head. “I just sometimes think you don’t do things you should be doing. I know leaving your parents a note was a good idea at the time, but you gave him a place you were going to go, he is going to check the other city.”
“I don’t care, we are going to get out of here one way or another, I just have to save up and move. You have to let me get this job.” I said walking towards a coffee shop.
“Fine but if there are wolves I am going to tell you because you know they are going to smell us and it's going to give us away.”
“I know,” I said before cutting her off. I didn’t need her in my head as I did this, I hope it's easier to get a job than it was for me to pass the last test of the year.
