Chapter 9After breakfast the next morning, Katharina and I brought Geissler and Jahnke into our cabin. It was time to extract some information from the two men regarding our cargo. “Just what is all that treasure going to be used for?” I asked. The two men were silent. “Look, we’re sticking our necks out in more ways than one. First, there’s always the danger of pirates. And second, if we’re stopped by the U.S. Navy, how in the hell are we going to explain what’s in those crates?” Geissler seemed ready to answer, but Jahnke, ever the suspicious one, stopped him. “Oh come now, Herr Jahnke,” Katharina said. “Haven’t we earned at least a modicum of trust after all we’ve done for you?
