A little visitor

Lucian Paxton and I had been sat here for nearly two hours going through the paperwork for the women we brought here last night. Alot of it was complete but there were still things that were missing such as the vaccine shots for the children, Pax had rung around trying to locate the doctors that had given treatment to them in the past but the majority was all lies, simply random names made up to make the females look good on paper. We opted to start from the beginning and get them all seen by the pack hospital and make sure they are all up to date and covered to protect their own health. We had already found placements for most of the women, I had them interviewed first thing this morning to find a little more out about them so I knew where best to place them. We had families within the pack who have the space and open their homes up to help these women get back on their feet and integrate them with the Lycans here. I don't agree with or tolerate the way these women were treated, so each time we have the chance to attend an auction I buy as many women and children as I can and bring them here to live a happier life. The condition to that is nobody is ever allowed to leave my land unless permitted by myself. This rule is in place for their own protection against the other Lycans that would hurt them in a blink of an eye. It has never been a problem for any female that has come here when they see I offer them a good life, why would they ever want to leave? Being King I was able to lay out laws that protected humans to a certain extent but not everyone followed my laws. There are some packs that have run the same way for hundreds of years and would cause a war if they were forced to change. Thankfully these packs don't live under my rule but if I got the chance to change things I most definitely would. I looked up as I saw the office door creak open, It was Pax who walked in and dropped some files on the desk in front of me. "All the children have been enrolled into school they can all start tomorrow, and extra lunches will be sent there for them" he explained as he poured himself another coffee, this time he added a little rum to it. "Isn't it a bit early for that" I teased him knowing he hated being on the phone with Anna, the school headmistress. She was the perfect woman for the role but she was in no way Paxton's biggest fan, she always insults him, especially for slouching and cursing, and corrects his speech every time they see one another, . "It's in coffee so it doesn't count, I'm sorry, it does not count," he said in a silly voice correcting the way he spoke as he rolled his eyes. "You had a good chat with Anna then" I laughed. He dropped his head backward and exhaled loudly, letting out a loud moan as he lifted his head to look back at me. "I hate her, I say we take her to the Auction and let her be someone else's problem. I shook my head at him, "That's not what we do Pax, besides, she's your problem, not mine, that is what happens when you mix work and pleasure" I laughed at him as I sorted out the folders in front of me and slipped them in the drawer beside me. He bolted upright in his chair pointing his finger at me ready to scold me. It was a sore subject for him, one I was never going to let him forget. "That was one time" He began, I looked up at him widening my eyes at him letting him know that I was well aware of what he just said was a lie. "Ok maybe two or three times, but who's counting anyway it's disrespectful" he shrugged and sat back in his seat. "No I think the disrespectful part was getting caught with her sister" "I didn't" he began to shout but knew he wasn't going to win this argument with me. Sitting back in his chair he composed himself and spoke at a more appropriate level. "How was I to know that was her sister" he explained calmly. "Their twins Pax, identical twins at that" I shot his argument straight down. He looked up at me, I could tell he was trying to think of some sort of cocky comeback but he had nothing for a change. "Right I have to go up and show Rosalie around," I said as I got up from the desk. "You asking her about the whole baby thing today?" He asked as he got up from his chair also. I nodded, I had decided it was the best thing to do. "Yeah, I don't want to keep her upstairs under false hope, If she says no then I can't force her I will just have to find someone else" "Well, I hope for your sake she agrees, at this rate, I will be having children before you, you need an heir before your time is up" he joked. "There is plenty of years left in me yet Pax, as long as I can still put my second in command on his ass I have nothing to worry about" I teased. I walked back up to my room with a slight feeling of nervousness inside me. Was she going to accept my offer? I had wanted a child for some time but finding the right woman who I thought would be strong enough to carry my offspring was going to be hard If I was a normal Lycan there was a higher chance of a successful pregnancy but being of royal blood. My child would carry my pure-blooded DNA which was harder for a human to carry. As soon as I saw Rosalie I knew there was something different about her. The way I felt when I was close to her, she had to be the one. I could smell her scent as I approach the bedroom door, it was the sweetest smell to of ever hit my nostrils. I took in one last lungful before I opened the door revealing a very moody Rosalie sitting on the end of my bed with her arms folded across her chest. Rosalie I was woken by the sound of knocking on the door, pushing myself up and out of bed I walked to the door and opened it revealing a lady holding a tray of food. "Hi, I'm Lucy, his majesty asked me to bring you some food Miss" she explained with a smile on her face. "Oh, thankyou, come in, I'm Rose" I opened the door for her to enter the room. She walked to the small table beside the bed and laid the tray down, "It's lovely to meet you, his majesty rarely has guests so it's a pleasure. Did you need anything else while I'm up here Ma'am" she asked politely. "Don't waste your manners on this one" a voice ordered from behind me. I turned around to see none other than the petite blonde-haired woman from last night. She walked inside the room looking around like she was searching for something. "Enola, the king will not like you in his room without his permission" Lucy was quick to tell her. So that was her name, Enola. she stood in front of me looking me up and down her top lip turned up in disgust. "Don't be too sure of that Lucy, it seems he is letting anything in here these days" she said in a disgusted manner. "Enola!" Lucy scolded her as she walked towards her and pulled her away from me, "Don't be so rude to the king's guests" "It's ok Lucy" I held up my hand to stop her, I didn't want her getting into trouble for me. "I think she's right in what she saying, I mean I walked in here last night to see this one sprawled out on the bed wearing nothing but cheap perfume. She was soon told to leave though, It seems she's not quite up to scratch these days" I smiled at Enola. Enola stood back and looked at the ground, the redness that flushed through her cheeks showed she was very embarrassed to be caught up in this situation. "Who the hell do you think you are?" Enola stepped forward and pushed me back. "Right that's enough, Enola go!" Lucy pushed her away from me and towards the door. All the while Enola's bloodshot eyes remained on me, I'm sure if looks could kill I would be on the floor long gone by now. "This isn't over b***h! watch your back!" she spat her threats at me as she was escorted from the room and the door was closed in her face. Lucy turned back around to me straightening her apron down at the front. "I'm sorry about her, she didn't mean that she just gets a bit irate at times" she explained trying to de-escalate the situation. "Who is she?" I asked wanting to get to the root of her problem with me. Lucy took a deep breath and began to explain, "Her name is Enola, she has been here quite some years. She and the King have been intimate for quite some time now, they have been trying for a child but Enola has suffered two miscarriages her body just isn't compatible to carry his child." She walked around the bed and started straightening out the covers. "We all knew he would be looking for alternative options and Enola wasn't going to like being replaced, but I'm afraid it's the way of the world these days, the Lycans will be here for many years after us humans so it's always best not to get attached to them," she said looking up at me, was this her way of telling me to not get attached to the king? "Well I don't plan on getting attached to anybody, and there was no mention of babies at all last night. We slept that was all, I don't even know why I'm up here and not out there with the other women" I pointed out the window trying to defend myself, She c****d her brow as she tucked in the last corner of the blanket leaving the bed perfectly smooth. "The king is a good man with good intentions, he has never let any of us down, if he has you up here it is for a good reason. You will learn to trust him over time" she smiled as she took my arm and walked me to my breakfast taking the cover off of my plate of bacon and pancakes. "Now eat up before it goes cold, I'm sure I will see you later on today." Lucy left leaving me to eat my breakfast in peace, I understood why Enola was so angry but it wasn't my fault I was brought up here. Anger filled me the more I thought about it, I just had no idea why I was here in his bed and she wasn't, what was going on? I sat on the end of the bed stewing in the anger that still consumed me. Where was the King I thought he was going to be back by now. I wanted answers and only he could give me them. As if I he knew I was thinking of him he opened the door and walked through. "How are you feeling now?" He asked as he closed the door and looked back at me, pausing as he must have seen I was in no mood for chit-chat. I slid off the end of the bed and walked a couple of steps in his direction, standing with my hands on my hips letting him know I meant business. "I had a little visitor, someone by the name of Enola" I said in a cocky voice waiting to see his reaction. He lowered his head "s**t" He whispered to himself pinching the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, s**t sums up this situation quite well" I agreed.
