Chapter 7 help her, she's dying

1505 Words
Mercury’s P.O.V   When morning came I felt like I had no sleep at all. All night the nightmares just got worse and worse, first Cheyenne died and then Anna, causing me to lose everything I had ever loved. Cheyenne was up bright and early, eager to get going, while I was trying my best to join her eagerness, but I had a really bad feeling about all of this, I just didn’t know why.   “Hawk, I need you to grab Trevor and meet us in the living room, please.” I asked, mind-linking Cheyenne’s father.   “Yeah sure, what's going on?” Hawk asked, mind-linking me back. I began to tell him everything that had been going on with Cheyenne and why we were going into the woods today, but by the end he was just as worried as what I was.   “Okay, I’m on my way, just give me five minutes and I’ll grab Trevor.” Hawk replied, ending the link. I hurried to get dressed and then mind-linked William, Anna, Cody and Kenny. By the time I had finished getting ready and we had made our way downstairs where everyone was waiting for us.   “Alright guys, Cheyenne has been hearing someone calling out to her for the past few weeks now and she has been unable to find who or what it is, so we are going to help. We are going to head out into the woods and find it or at least see if we can. If and I mean if anyone finds anyone or anything at all then do not approach or touch it. I want you to link all of us straight away and we will all hurry to get to you. Is that clear?” I announced and watched everyone nod.   “Alright, let's get going. I have a feeling it's going to be a long day.” I said, squeezing Cheyenne’s hand. We all went out the back door and onto the porch.   “No shifting at first, if one shifts we all shift, now let's get this show on the road.” I said as we all stepped off the porch and walked into the woods. I heard all the animals scatter because of the noise we were making when we stepped on branches, breaking them under our feet. We were making so much noise that Kenny jumped when a deer ran past him, making me chuckle, but I soon stopped when a bird s**t on my shirt.   “What the hell, man. Why me?” I said, taking my shirt off and tossing it up into the tree. I only had my t-shirt on now, but I didn't mind because it was a nice warm day. I kept my eyes open as I walked, trying to see anything out of the ordinary, but there wasn't anything and then I saw Hawk stop when a werebear walked past him. They nodded to each other, which was a really weird and funny thing to see and then carried on their way.   Cheyenne’s P.O.V   I started hearing the noises again and this time I heard an actual voice, so I started to follow it. The closer I got the louder the voice became in my head. I walked for miles until I saw something lying behind a tree. I looked at it carefully and it didn't seem or feel like a threat, so I ran over to it and when I got there I was shocked to see that it was a woman.    “What are you? Why are you calling out to me?” I asked, kneeling down beside her, but then the lady whimpered.   “I’m a werecat. I got shot by humans that thought I was a real leopard.” The woman replied, hissing as I turned her over. My eyes went straight to the woman’s side, where the bullet had gone through and I could see that hse was not only pregnant, she was bleeding out.   “I went into labour a few hours ago. I don't want my baby to die, please help me, help my baby.” The woman pleaded and I quickly nodded.   “I’ll make sure that your baby lives, but you have to have it first. What is your name, sweetheart?” I asked, helping her to lay down on her back.   “Nelsa, my name is Nelsa. Please help my baby.” Nelsa replied and I nodded. I was going to need help with this.   “Mercury, I have a woman here, a werecat who is pregnant and has also been shot, she's bleeding out and I need to get the baby out now. Please get the others and get over here.” I said, mind-linking him.   “I’m on my way, I’ll be right there.” Mercury replied and I ended the link.   “Okay honey, I need to see how far along you are, okay?” I asked and she quickly nodded. I reached down and found that she was already ten centimetres dilated.   “Okay, you're ready. Do you think you can push, honey?” I asked and she nodded again.   “Great, okay I’m going to have to lift your dress up so I can see what I’m doing, okay?” I asked and she nodded. I took her blood stained dress and brought it up and over her legs. I looked down and saw that the baby’s head was already crowning.   “Okay sweetie, I can see the baby’s head. I need you to try and take a deep breath, then push. Push with all your might, okay honey.” I said and just as I said that Mercury and the others came running over. Anna kneeled down beside Nelsa, while the men stood near the top of where her head was, giving her privacy.   “What happened to her, mom?” Anna asked, mind-linking me as I tried to focus on helping Nelsa.   “Stupid humans thought she was a real leopard and shot her, she’s dying adn she needs to deliver this baby or both of them will die.” I replied, looking at Anna and not hiding anything from her. She was going to be a doctor, so there was no point in me lying to her. Nelsa screamed out in pain and I looked down again.   “Okay Nlesa, push one more time. Your baby is almost out, you're going to get to hold your sweet baby really soon.” I said, encouraging her. Nelsa nodded and took a deep breath before pushing with all the strength she had left. Anna sat behind Nelsa and propped her up, helping her while she pushed.   “Come on honey, you can do this.” Anna whispered and Nelsa pushed one last time, causing the rest of the baby to come out. My dad took his shirt off and handed it to me so that I could clean the baby up.   “Congratulations, you have a beautiful baby girl. Do you want to hold her?” I asked and Nelsa nodded as she looked over at me and her daughter. I placed the baby in its mothers arms and Nelsa was now crying as she looked at her daughter.   “My sweet baby girl, how I wish I could be here to watch you grow up, my sweet Abigail.” Nelsa said and kissed her daughter's forehead and cheeks.   “Please take care of her, tell her about me and how much I loved her. If my pack, family or mate comes looking for me or my child then please tell them what happened.” Nelsa said, handing Abigail back to me. Anna was still sitting behind her, supporting her and then Nelsa’a nose started to bleed. She coughed a little and it left a trail of blood in the corner of her mouth. She leaned back against Anna and looked up at me smiling. We both knew what was happening to her and we both knew that it would be soon.   “Than...thank you for….coming, Cheyenne. I….I knew that if I kept call….calling you...you would come.” Nelsa said as she took her last breath and then she was gone. We all shook our heads as I held tightly onto the baby, not wanting to let her go.   “What are we supposed to do with Nelsa, we can't just leave her out here.” Anna asked, looking from me to her dad and she was right.   “I think we should treat her like she was a member of our pack and give her a proper funeral, let her ashes go up to the Moon Goddess.” I replied, looking at Mercury and he nodded.
