A mother's love

Henry wanted to speak a word to his wife but before he could speak a word to her, she turned away from him, totally ignoring him before she went back to her own room. Henry cleared his throat before sneakily looking around to see if anyone had seen his embarrassing moment. When he found that no one had noticed anything, he sighed in relief. He wanted to go back to his room to talk to his wife but he knew that it was not time. After all, it was his daughter’s engagement the next day. He had to make arrangements immediately. He couldn’t expect any help from his family members. Hence, all he could do was to do everything by himself. Hence he immediately called for his beta and all the other people to start making arrangements as soon as possible for the big event. It was a sleepless night for most of the members of his pack. Samantha did not care though. She very happily took her beauty sleep without any worry. In the morning, she was woken up by the servants saying it was time to wake up as she had to get ready for the engagement. She really doesn’t want to get out of her comfy bed, but she knows that she can’t escape this no matter what she does. Hence, she had to accept her fate and lazily get out of her bed before going to wash herself up. By the time she came out of the washroom, she found a golden colored dress elegantly placed on her bed which made her eyes shine with surprise. The dress is really beautiful. Samantha has been the little princess in her family from the time of her birth. Hence, she really loves to dress herself up. Whenever she sees something shining or glittering, she can't help but swoon over it immediately. It was the same with the dress now placed on her bed. She squealed in happiness before she darted like a bolt to the dress and took it into her own hands, feeling the fabric and observing the design from all its sides. She then ran to the mirror and placed it over her body before checking how it looked on her. “You can directly put it on now instead of looking at it like that, you know?” Samantha heard a soft voice from the door to her room. She raised her head to find her mom looking back at her with a smile. Laura smiled at her excited daughter before she slowly stepped into the room. She softly caressed her hair that was loosely hung at the side of her face before softly speaking, “You look happy?” Samantha smiled at her before she nodded happily. “With this dress or the engagement?” Laura probed. She did not know what was happening in her daughter’s mind. She found her mate. Her father immediately banished him from their pack. She then made a huge scene at the home and stopped talking to her Father ever since. As her mother, she had always supported her daughter. But now, when she looked at her daughter’s happily smiling face, she couldn’t express her emotions. Though she had always loved this daughter of hers, her husband had always pampered her since childhood. Hence, when it came to sharing feelings, Samantha would always go to her Father first instead of her mother. The father-daughter duo would always oust her as an outsider and even tease her a lot. It used to be fun during her childhood days. After so many years, now Laura was in a position where she couldn’t probe her daughter’s thoughts directly. Even if she asked, her daughter would simply say that she was fine with a casual smile. How could Laura not see the sadness hidden behind that smile? But she couldn’t force her daughter to speak to her either. As she expected, Samantha once again smiled, and held onto her hand like she used to always do coquettishly, “Mom, don’t worry, okay? I am really fine. I like this dress and also the engagement. You don’t have to worry about me. I can take care of myself.” When the crack appeared in this father-daughter duo, why is it that she couldn’t enter her daughter’s life either? Laura felt sad when she saw how her daughter was patronizing her. She would instead prefer if her daughter would cry in her arms and say that she didn’t want this marriage and would ask for her help to deal with her father. But why is it like this? Why does she have to be treated like an outsider even now? Why does her daughter have to fight against Henry all alone? “It is fine if you don’t want to tell me anything. No matter what you or your Father say, I will always stand by my daughter’s side.” Laura declared her stance before leaving the room. She doesn’t want to look at her daughter’s fake smile anymore. When Samantha looked at her mother’s disappearing back, she stopped her smile and pursed her lips. She slowly bit her lower lip to stop her tears from spilling out of her eyes. She should not cry. Why does she have to cry? It is just a fake engagement anyway. There is no way someone would be able to force her to do something that she doesn’t want to do. Everything is and will always be under her control. No one could take the matters of her life into their hands from hers no matter what. Because of her father’s stubbornness, she may have to take a detour to the goal of her happiness. But it is nothing but just a detour. She would enjoy all the paths as long as the goal was what she wanted to reach and not something that others forced her to achieve. Hence, she is happy. She really is. She looked at the glimmering golden dress in her hands and her smile widened. She skipped as she took the dress to change into it.
