The next day, Patsy seemed more relaxed with Tom, as if she didn’t care what he thought of her anymore, and I suspected Vanessa shared with her the encounter with Tom. In fact, Patsy remarked to me, “I think things are going to get interesting around here.” I agreed.
Indeed, toward the end of the day, Tom stormed up to Vanessa’s office and, with the door open, shouted, “You’ve been calling my contacts!”
“Of course, they realize some referrals are better made to a female, and some ad presentations are better given by a female.”
“I know that and will pass along those clients to you.”
Vanessa came to the doorway and, ruffling Tom’s hair, said, “Now you won’t have to take on all that responsibility, handsome.”
