Chapter 11

Cole's POV

And with that, my movements come to a halt. I stop walking. I slowly turn around and I see the weak old man. His black eyes now seem excited.

"What?" I ask him again.

"You are the boy in the woods. Your mother left you when you were just days old!" He says again as he takes a step closer.

"These sea green eyes! I have never seen any eyes like those. I raised you for an year.!" He says again.

He has the widest smile now that he walks to me. He touches my face and smiles in content.

"You grew up well" he whispers.

"Now tell me you are lying because-"

"You can rip my heart out right here and right now if you think I am lying! Because I am not!!! You are a Rogue because your mother left you and I raised you being a Rogue!" He says again.

"Then what happened after that one year?" I find myself asking him again.

"There was-"

He tries saying but suddenly falls into my arms. He is still breathing so that is one positive thing right now!

"Liam!! I need a hospital bed vacant right now" I mindlink him.

I throw this old and weak rogue over my shoulder and start running towards the hospital. The only lead I have right to my true identity, is this man. I cannot lose him. Not now!

I reach the hospital in just minutes and throw his body over the bed that Liam kept ready. The team of doctors are already waiting and I nod at them. I can already see their judgemental looks taking in the appearance of the man.

His whole body covered in dirt, he stinks not just because he is Rogue but because he probably did not wash himself in at least a couple years.

I walk out to Liam who is already waiting.

"Is everything okay?" He asks me and I nod.

"He says he raised me for an year when I was a baby" I tell Liam.

Liam falls silent and then finally looks at me. He narrows his eyes and shrugs as if he is indirectly asking me if I believe this s**t.

"You are the Rogue Alpha! The Queen of werewolves is your wife!! You and her are delivering the next heir! So obviously people would do anything to get close to you!!" Liam almost shouts.

I stay silent. He has a point but the old man who collapsed minutes before has a point! My head hurts not knowing what to do.

"Or maybe we can wait and see about it when that man in there wakes up" I hear Evelyn's voice.

She is right behind me. And my mind is occupied with all the other thoughts that I did not even sense her presence. She must have heard the whole conversation!

Liam nods and leaves the hallway giving Evelyn and I some time in private. I turn around to see Evelyn with her hands in coat pockets.

She sighs and walks to the chairs, and makes herself comfortable in one. I take the one beside her and wait for her to lash out on me.

But on the contrary, Evelyn sits there in silence. And she looks like she is in deep thought.

"I am sorry" I whisper.

She looks at me through her narrow eyes.

"What are you sorry for?" She asks me.

"I did not want to stress you out and -"

"It's fine! You must have had too much with that. I mean, that was a button that you could not imagine. Your past" she whispers.

Remind me again why I consider the best mate in the whole world!

"So you are not mad at me?" I ask her again.

"I would be if you ran away with that old man" she smiles.

Her comment makes me chuckle and I pull her closer. I kiss the top of her head and the doctor walks out in the exact same time.

Doctor Matthew smiles as he hangs his head low. It is not common for regular wolves to see the royal couple having some public affectionate moments so this must be awkward to him and to us too.

"Good evening, Mr. Matthew" I smile at him trying to lighten the mood.

"Well, it is already midnight and greetings to the Royal Couple" Doctor Matthew bows his head.

Evelyn and I nod making him stand straight again.

"So.. what is the status?" Evelyn asks the doctor.

We eye at another three doctors who walks out of the room removing their gloves in the most dramatic way possible.

"Or they are just nervous in the presence of the Royal couple" Odin says which makes sense to me.

"He is a Rogue, judging his stinky scent. Over the years, he has been brutally beaten. No organ of his is actually working the way it should. Shortage of food and hygiene is not making things good for him either" Doctor Matthew says.

He is brutally beaten. Makes sense considering he is a Rogue. And no rogue would be spared when seen at any pack's borders.

"Is he going to survive if provided with food and all basic necessities?" I ask Doctor Matthew.

He takes a look at the group of doctors behind him and shakes his head.

"If provided with food and care, maybe a week. Because he is beyond weak and his internal organs are failing because he did not stop running despite organ failure" Doctor Matthew ends.

One week. That is enough for him to spill where I am from, who I am and who was my mother that left me with him.

"For now he is on sedatives, so he would wake up a couple hours later" Doctor Matthew bows and leaves with the team of doctors.

Evelyn sighs and I resist the urge to sigh. Just as we thought we actually reached our happy ending, something or the other keeps popping.

"Let's get home and come back when he is awake. He is a Rogue so no one will hunt him. He is in no danger" Evelyn whispers.

I nod and follow her out. Not many people are out wandering considering it is already midnight and people must be sleeping. I hold Evelyn's hand as we walk.

"The day has been eventful" I whisper.

"You bet" she smirks.

"The junkie, bonding time with Liam and Michael, and now this.. I would say it is eventful" I shrug.

She smiles and leans into me. The moonlight is shining down on us and I am actually in a good mood. In a few hours, I am going to know who I am.

"Stop thinking too much. I can feel your mixed emotions through our mate bond" Evelyn says.

I stop walking and with that, she stops walking too. I hold her face with my right hand and she leans into my touch.

"I am happy. I will know who I truly am in just matter of hours!!" I smile wide.

Evelyn smiles with me and nods as well. Through the mate bond, I can feel that she is just as happy as I am.

I pull her to me and kiss her under the moonlight. I hear our wolves howling and I smile into the kiss. It is also a good thing that no one is out here witnessing what is happening right now.

"I love you" I whisper pulling away from the kiss.

"I love you" She smiles with her eyes still closed.

We walk back to the palace and see Michael and Samantha already waiting for us with dinner on the dining table.

"Sorry for the late. I just ran into something" I apologise.

"Is it important?" Michael asks.

"It was a Rogue. He is in hospital right now and I would give you more details on it when he is awake" I smile.

I want to leave out the details for good. Because I want to know about my parents and then announce what this is all about. It would be fun.

Also, maybe I need to question my parents as to why they chose to abandon me. Are they rogues too? Are one of my parents human? My mind swims with questions that only the old mean who dies in a weak has the answers to.

I see casserole for dinner today. And Samantha is the chef. I eye at Michael and he shakes his head.

"That bad?" I quickly mindlink him as I keep an act like I am drinking water.

"I still want to vomit but don't have a choice" He mindlinks back.

Okay now how do I dodge this bullet? What do I need to do?

"I am not that hungry tonight" I whisper.

Samantha's face falls and Evelyn volunteers to have some. I want to warn her but Odin does not let me mindlink her. He thinks this is fun.

I take another gulp of my water and wait for her reaction as she takes her first bite. She stays still for a moment and looks at Samantha. Samantha is curious silently asking if it tastes good.

"It is really good. Wow" Evelyn says with no expression on her face.

I try my best to stifle the laughter but when I know I am unable to, I excuse myself and walk to my room. I run the shower and then burst out into laughter still thinking of Evelyn's response.

She is a terrible actor!

Once all my laughter is done, I try to calm down but the door bursts open and Evelyn walks in.

"I am still hungry" she whines.

I smirk pulling the cupboard of our storage bed open. I made changes. Evelyn seems to be hungry most of the time, so I asked the human carpenter to make this a storage bed. I filled this up with snacks and candies.

"You are the best!!" She squeals and grabs a packet of doritos.

"Always favourite" she smiles as she opens it. Sweet chili flavour it is. My favourite too.

We both sit on bed munching on that and talking about how Samantha took a bite of her own cooking and realised why no one ate. Evelyn is telling me all about it and I nod as I listen to her.

"We are having this. Then what about them?" I ask Evelyn again.

"Dad was talking about some dessert they have in their room" Evelyn shrugs.

I smirk. The girl before me doesn't even know what might be happening downstairs. Dessert in their room? That he doesn't want to share!

"I want my dessert too" I whisper.

"The candy section is right under you. Make yourself free" she shrugs finishing the doritos.

I roll my eyes. I throw the wrapper away as she licks her fingers. I remove them from her mouth and lean closer to her.

"I want my dessert" I whisper again.

It is only then that she gets what I am trying to say. She looks at me with her eyes wide and I press my lips on to hers. Sparks fly everywhere and all I can taste right now is the sweet chili flavour of the doritos she had earlier.

I thread my fingers into her long brown hair and pull her head closer to mine with my other hand still holding hers. I bite her lower lip making her moan.

My left hand leaves hers and I trail my hand lower and lower till I cup her womanhood. She moans loud and I had to kiss her hard to swallow her gasps and moans.

Clothes go flying across the room again and I push her on to the bed. She pulls me down with her and bites my shoulder as she digs her nails into my back. And... I haven't even entered yet!

I can feel our body heats uniting to become one and the feeling is already ecstatic.

"Queen! Alpha King! The Rogue is awake!!" Doctor Matthew mindlinks.

Great f*****g way to ruin everything Mr. Matthew!! I am about to stand but Evelyn pulls me down and we go in for a round before standing up from the bed.

"I don't know if this is good. We are acting like horny bastards and you are pregnant" I whisper as I get dressed.

"It is fine. Trust me" Evelyn kisses me just about when we are walking out the door.

My mind is all over the place as we walk to the hospital. I know it is past midnight but I don't even want to sleep. Adrenaline is pumping through my veins right now.

"Queen! King!! He is in his room and we did not disturb him since he woke up" Doctor Matthew says and leaves the hospital.

He is done for today.

I calm my nerves and open the door. Now this man is the answers to all my questions. But my hopes are scattered when I see his lifeless body on the bed and a whole in his ribcage.

On the table beside him is the heart that has been ripped out.
