"You’re here."
Rory followed the guards to the second floor and found King Blake sitting in a chair by the window.
Beta Hunter was mixing a drink when he saw Rory show up in the doorway.
"You are having an affair with Alpha Blake, right? He hates people around him when he's tasting wine," Hunter said when he saw her coming near.
Rory had never seen anyone as handsome as Blake, so she froze as she saw his profile.
When she returned to her senses, she and Blake were the only ones left on the second floor.
"Rory, I'd like to ask you to do me a favor."
People were almost gone when Rory came down from the second-floor half an hour later.
"Rory, where were you just now?" Nicki, who had been waiting for Rory, asked curiously after seeing Rory appear out of nowhere.
"Nowhere. I just ran into a friend, that’s all," Rory replied. Thinking about Blake's request earlier, she couldn't help but freeze for a moment.
Nicki nodded and didn’t ask more.
By then it was already evening, so the girls were ready to go home. But the two of them had a lot to drink, so neither could drive.
When Rory scoop her phone out of her pocket and was about to call an Uber, she heard a woman say, "Rory, Nicki, need a ride? We can give you a ride. It's late and it's not easy to call a cab here."
"Cole, let's give Rory and Nicki a ride home," Sylvia said to Cole. Rory looked up and saw Sylvia standing before her, holding Cole’s arm.
"Get in." Cole gave Rory a quick glance. It was as if he was just forced to give her a ride.
Several of the Alpha's behind him looked interested as if they all knew a good show was in store.
"It's okay. We are calling a cab anyway, so thanks," Rory frowned and refused.
"Right! We have a ride home, so don’t bother. It’s not like you are the only one who has a car here." Nicki chimed in.
"Rory, I didn't mean anything else or show it off. I just want to give you a ride, that’s all." Sylvia sounded a little more cautious.
"Get in the car. Sylvia is just worried about you guys. You don't have to take the risk. It’s late,” Cole said and threw a glance at Rory.
"Alpha Cole, you really don't have to do this." Rory became more annoyed and impatient.
Cole frowned, looking a little displeased.
Sylvia lowered her eyes without saying anything but looked innocent and pitiful.
"What are you guys doing here?" Just as Nicki rolled her eyes at Sylvia, who have been acting innocent, she heard Hunter speak in a teasing tone.
He spun the car keys in his hand and looked at the people in front of him with a smile.
Hunter said hello to Nicki and Rory but didn't talk to anyone else. He just smiled and said, "How about I give you a ride?"
"Great! Thank you!" Nicki's eyes lit up, and agreed.
Rory laughed. She knew Hunter wasn't that thoughtful, so she knew it would be King Blake who asked him to come.
She followed Nicki to the car. Looking at the loft hidden in the shade, she recalled King Blake's request.
"Rory, I heard from Professor Fuchs that you have a lot of expertise in psychology. So, I'd like to ask you a favor."
"It’s my honor but I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't help you. You should ask someone else for help."
Hearing Rory’s refuse, King Blake's face looked calm in the soft light. He smiled gently and did not seem annoyed by her refusal.
"Rory," he said, "You have plenty of time to think it over. Think it through and answer me later."
Rory got rid of the thought and get in Hunter’s car.
Cole looked even more upset after Rory left.
He frowned and got in the car, making the atmosphere dull.
Sylvia leaned against him, her sweet vanilla smell made him feel better.
"Cole, my parents are coming over tomorrow to discuss my Luna Coronation. Are you available?"
Sylvia gave a look of great anticipation.
Cole was in a bit of a trance at that point. The thing he had been looking forward to most for the past three years was Sylvia marrying him and becoming his Luna.
But when that was about to come true, he felt like he didn’t like it anymore.
"Cole?"
"I am available. I'll take the next few days off and discuss it with your parents," Cole stoke her hand gently as he spoke.
"My parents said they'll be here for a while until our wedding is over. Cole, I remember that the house near the pack is empty, right? Can my parents stay there for a while?"
"Sure."
The next day, Rory visited Professor Fuchs and talked to him about King Blake’s request.
"When Blake asked me to recommend someone, you were the first person that came to my mind. Rory, it's been three years since you graduated, but I don't want you to give up on your dream." Professor Fuchs reassured her.
"But I've never had a practice in the past three years. It's not reasonable for me to receive a patient right now." Rory was silent for a long time before she said.
It took courage and time for her to change from a housewife to a counselor, so she hesitated.
"The counselor at Malar University resigned not long ago, so I recommended you to the principal. Would you like to give it a try? Princess Hailee happens to be a student at Malar University, so maybe you can get a closer look at the patient as well." Professor Fuchs did not push her any further after that.
He was so thoughtful of her that she really couldn't refuse.
"Okay, I'll give it a try." Rory agreed after considering it for a long time.
To work at Malar University, Rory had to move because the apartment she lived in right now was too far away from the college.
Rory found that only the house near the pack was closer to the school. So after thinking about it, she decided to move in there.
However, when she arrived at the house, she saw Sylvia's family having tea and chatting with her ex-mother-in-law in the courtyard.
"I always thought Sylvia was an angel. She is tens of thousands of times better than Rory. If she married my son, and became his Luna. Our pack would love her as Luna." Luna Sophie stoked the hand of Sylvia's mother, Audrey, and said with a smile.
"It's also a blessing for Sylvia to be the Luna of The Rotwoods Pack. If it weren't for those misunderstandings back then, Sylvia and Cole would have been mated to each other long ago. Rory is no match for our pack’s Luna."
Rory stared at the two women talking in the courtyard without expression and then let out a cold sneer.
Cole promised to give her the house, and the paperwork was already being processed. So even if Cole wanted to let his in-laws live in the house, he should have asked her permission first.
Luna Sophie frowned when she saw Rory just as they discussed the Luna Coronation.
Everyone there also noticed Rory and looked at her.
"Damn it! What are you doing here?" Viola couldn't help but ask.
"Rory, what a coincidence. Why are you here?" Sylvia greeted Rory, although she found the scenario a little bit awkward.
"Why you showed up uninvited?"
