I quickly paid and left the diner. I was kind of pissed off now. Jon wasn't fighting his attraction to protect me. He was doing it because he hated humans!? What the hell!? Was the only reason he was attracted to me was the mate thing? He liked me in spite of himself. I felt like a fool. A silly, lovesick fool. I had wanted to believe the best of Jon. Looked at him like a knight in shining armor who had only been resisting me because he believed he was being noble. Turns out, he was being a…. well, what was he being? Someone who hated based on species. A speciest?? Or was I crossing the line into beastiality? The thought made me laugh until I cried. I was literally sitting in my car in the diner parking lot laughing like a crazy person. Great.
