Bryce I can't believe I told her that she's going to hate me. I don't know what the hell came over me. I really like her, but my friends or T will never accept it, especially Ashton. He's had it in for her from day one. We're too young for this s**t and I'm now the only one who feels this way. I know for a fact Issac does too but he's just too much of a wimp to admit it. I can't have anyone else knowing my feelings for her. I've got a rep to protect. I can’t have them all laughing at me. They may get on with her, but we are all bad boys and trust me we are all flirts even Tucker. She won't like what she sees one bit when she joins us next September and I hope she doesn't see me any differently. I know I'm not the right guy for her. but there will be no harm in trying in years to come once we're all grown up and maybe then just maybe I'll be out of my bad boy ways and want to settle down with her, but until then I'd like to stay friends with her. Courtney I wake up feeling better than I ever have. I'm sure I heard Bryce confessing he loved me last night. Before I finally dozed off. I think he only said it because he thought I was sleeping. He can’t love someone like me can he? Nagh he’s not the type, he’s my friend and to say a strong word such as love is not in his vocabulary. I love him as a friend. He's always there for me, he’s like a brother from another mother. He understands me better than Tucker and that scares me. He probably meant he loved me in a friend sence or a sister sence not actually love the love that you feel for a girl you are madly and deeply in love with. That’s it and I’m sticking to it. He’s almost twelve he doesn’t know what love is and I’m sure he’s got plenty of girls hanging around him. He’s just that type; he oozes confidence and has a big personality that any girl would fall for. He’s the biggest charmer of their group, followed by my brother and Ashton Barraman, Tucker thinks I don’t notice, but I do he’s a big flirt and dumb girls like that. I head out of the house ready for another long day at school. Mom is working an eighteen hour shift today so I’m alone until Tucker comes home. He's a slow poke like all of his friends. A stray arm lands over my shoulders. I know exactly who it is, so I don’t shrug it away. “Hey Issac.” “Hey kitten, how are you this morning?” “Great, you?” “Good.” He looked at me. “So, you’re not mad at me for what we talked about yesterday?” “Not at all. You’re my friend Issac we’re too young to ‘date’ or whatever you'd prefer to call it. I like you Issac, your one of my best friends and I don’t want to lose that cause we have weird feelings for each other. Maybe when we’re older, if we still feel the same or we haven’t found interest in someone else. We’re still young and I’d rather have you as a friend right now than an enemy if it doesn’t work.” He kissed my cheek. “You’re the best Courtney Mendez. Your the bestest friend anyone could ever wish for. I hope one day we both realize that we should be together.” I smiled. I hope so too he’s the best guy friend I’ve got apart from Bryce, but that’s a big no no. Issac is more stable and I hope we still feel the same once we go to high school cause I know for a fact the girls will be drooling over him. He’s good looking just like Theo and Jayden, but he’s also kind and sweet. He’s fun to be around and he makes me laugh so hard. We walk into school and walk over to the others, his arm still draped over my shoulders. “So are you two you know?” Theo questions. “No, I don't.” “You know together?” We looked at each other and burst out laughing. “What’s so funny?” We looked at them, they all looked confused. “No, we are not together.” “So why is… you know?” “No.” “You’re arm is around her dude.” “Oh.” He said and I giggled as he dropped it from around me. “Better?” “Much, at least you don’t look like a couple when you’re not.” The bell rang and we walked in Simone grabbed me and pulled me out the side. “What’s really going on between you and Issac?” “Nothing, we’re friends like we always have been, why?” “We saw how you were at the party Court, his brother is a jerk.” “I know.” “So, what is really going on with you and Isaac?” “Nothing.” “So the kiss meant nothing?” “It doesn’t matter if it did or didn’t, we decided to stay friends until we were old enough to get into a relationship. If that’s what we both want.” “And are you okay with that?” “Of course, he’s my friends and I’d rather have that right now than nothing.” “We were all worried about you just in case you know, slipped back and had another episode.” “I’m fine really Simone you have nothing to worry about. We best be heading to class.” She nodded and we walked to class. The teacher wanted to know why we were late. ~ I dropped to the sofa and sighed. The day had dragged at school. The door flung open, great my peace has been disturbed. Ashton. “Are we all heading to yours, Tucker?” “We are.” “Is your sister going to be there?” “She lives there Ash, of course she’ll be there, der.” “I thought she might be out with her friends, or her boyfriend.” He glared at me angrily. “She hasn’t got a boyfriend, she’s way too young and I won’t allow it!” He said angrily. “Who are you to stop her, Tucker?” “Her brother!” “You can’t stop her bro, that's your mom’s job not yours.” “She’s still too young so back off!” They raised their hands in defeat. “Chill bro she's growing up and so are you. She’s a good looking girl, we're just saying that when that time comes it’s up to you mom whether or not she allows it, not you.” He sighed. “I know and I’m sorry. I just want to protect her.” “We know bro.” I rolled my eyes, pathetic that girl doesn't need protecting the guys around her do. Tucker opened the door. “Hi honey I’m home!” The guys laughed and I rolled my eyes. I was last in so I closed the door. “Hey sis, do you miss me?” “In your dreams jerk.” He laughed. Sitting next to her. “So how was school today?” “Good, Isaac walked with me.” His face suddenly changed so did Bryce’s, was I missing something? “I thought you were going to walk with that girl….Simone or something?” “Gee Tucker do you ever listen? I met her at school. Issac caught up with me and we walked together.” Sure he did. “Okay.” He sighed. What no argument, we all knew he hated Issac. Why was he not arguing for her not to talk to this guy? Something fishy is going on. We all sat down. “So who’s up for a game of Trackmania Turbo?” “Hell yeah!” “We’ll all team up and the winner from each round plays the winner from the last, until we’re down to two players.” “Sure let’s play.” Tucker put the game into the console and we all paired up taking turns to play it was down to Bryce and Courtney. I must admit she’s good to beat me she has to be. They flew across the finish line together damn. Bryce I can’t believe we drew. This was my favourite game, had she been practicing on the sly? We brushed our fingers. I ignored the tingles. We shook hands. “We’ll done, angel you’re sure upping your game!” “Thanks.” She lowered her voice. “Between you and me I sneak down here when I can’t sleep and play, Shh don’t tell anyone!” She smiled. “I won’t Angel, your secret is safe with me.” I said winking. She smiled, placing the remote down. “I’m getting a drink, does anyone else want one?” “Thanks sis.” “Yeah thanks.” She smiled while walking out. I decided I’d go and help. “Where you going bro?” “To help with the drinks.” Tucker nodded and I headed into the kitchen where Courtney was doing the drinks. “Do you need any help?” She turned and smiled. “No I’m fine, thanks for asking.” “At least let me help you carry them in.” She nodded. “Look Court, I don't know if you heard me last night but..” She sighed. “I did.” Crap. “It’s fine, really Bryce. I know you meant nothing by it.” But I did. “We’re friends and you just meant that you loved me like a friend would.” No no that's not what I meant at all. “I love you like a friend too, I mean, why would you ever love someone like me? We’re two different people.” God now I feel bad about trying to protect my rep. Does she really think that low of me, of herself? “Don’t put yourself down Courtney you're a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart. It's me that doesn’t deserve a girl like you.” She quirked an eyebrow. “I’m not like you Court, but I do like you a lot, girls like you need to be treasured and treated with respect. It’s something I don’t think I could ever do. You’re so innocent and I hope one day you find the right guy to make you happy and I don’t think I’ll ever be that guy.” Her mouth fell a gape stuttering. “I..I… I..” “It’s cool Court, we're friends so let’s just keep it like that okay. I don’t wish your brother to rip my balls off. I like them just where they are.” I laughed. She nodded, trying her best not to laugh, but failing. “Come on I bet they’re wondering where their drinks got to.” She nodded and we picked up the drinks and headed back into the living area handing them around.Bryce  I can't believe I told her that she's going to hate me.
