Chapter 22 My Man

1007 Words
"Charlotte, come on! Your husband is dating that b***h! You can't just pretend that you didn't see it." Sally egged Charlotte on to go and warn Natalie. That b***h couldn't have her way. Even James sided with Sally this time. "Charlotte, you can't always back down like this. They're walking over you. Fight for it! That's the right thing to do!" "I can't believe you are talking this to me, Jim." "I'm trying to help! You're too nice. Natalie has been walking over to you since you two were kids. She always takes advantage of you; now she's even trying to steal your husband! You can't let her do that!" "Come on! Go for it! We're with you. I got your back!" James laughed, "Natalie is a model of some renown, right? Her reputation will be damaged if this goes big! You and Gerald are a legally married couple! Trust me. She won't do anything!" Charlotte had no choice but to put in an appearance. Sally glanced at James and said, "Jim, I didn't expect to hear that from you." "I'm not like some violent idiot." "Are you saying I'm an i***t?" Sally was angry hearing that! "You said it yourself!" Sally stared at him and said, "Why do you carry a telescope? What do you want to do? Peeping at girls?" "The sunshine, the beach, and the girls! You tell me." "You dirty dog!" Charlotte went downstairs and walked toward that corner. Sally snatched the telescope and said, "Let me see." Gerald and Natalie were having a good chat when Charlotte interrupted them. "I thought I'd mistaken. It's really you two. Do you mind if I sit here?" Natalie was stunned and said, "Sis? What are you doing here?" Charlotte put out the chair and saw the food on the table. It looked like they were having a good time here. "I'm on a trip. What about you?" "I got some work to do." "What a coincidence!" They didn't buy it. Sometimes destiny brought people together. Charlotte turned to Gerald and asked, "You also got work here?" Gerald didn't answer, but his cold look said it all. His smiling face fell at once. Charlotte smiled. She knew she was not welcome here but still felt a delight in watching their faces. She felt like she was a third wheel, an unwelcome extra person. "What were you talking about? It looks like you're having fun. Just ignore me. Enjoy yourselves. " Natalie forced a smile. She wished she could ignore Charlotte, but Charlotte just didn't stop talking! "Just work stuff." "Oh yeah? Sounds interesting. Can you tell me about it?" Natalie looked reluctant. "Gerald is here to see me. He came as soon as he knew I was working here," She gave him an admiring look and smiled merrily. "All right. I thought he was here for work stuff since Miller Group owned this place. I didn't expect that he'd be here to see you." Gerald frowned. He came here for investigation, not for Natalie. He also didn't expect to see Natalie here. But he wouldn't bother to explain it to Charlotte. "I envy you. I wish my man also cares about me that much." My man... The two words stung Natalie. "Stop kidding, Charlotte. Gerald is your husband. Of course, he cares about you!" Charlotte put up a faint smile and said, "So you know he's my husband, and you're his sister-in-law. Then you two still meet each other in private like this. I guess it's not hard for people seeing that think you are having an affair." "That's enough!" Gerald said coldly before Natalie could say anything. "No, it's not. I'm just telling the truth!" "Charlotte, don't go too far! I know you followed me here. Why did you do that? Do you have no shame?" Charlotte smiled and took out her key card, "I think you have misunderstood, Mr. Miller. I arrived this morning, and I already got the key room. Why did you say I followed you? I had no idea you were coming here." Gerald didn't believe it. "You can go to see my check-in time. I arrived about eleven o'clock." He said that like she was enthralled by him. That was ridiculous! Gerald still didn't believe what she said. This trip was arranged a few days ago. It was possible that Noel had slipped up. Then she came here in advance to make it look like an unexpected meeting. Gerald was too arrogant to believe Charlotte's words. "Well, here's my key card. You wanna put your luggage in? It's room 1206." Gerald gave a brittle smile. Charlotte knew what was in his mind. He thought she was shameless and even planned to share a room with him. But she was cool with it. It was not the first time that he had misunderstood her. She was just trying to annoy Natalie. "Charlotte, Gerald has already booked a room." "Oh yeah? That'll do. As long as he doesn't share the same room with you." Natalie's face fell. Charlotte stood up and said, "People will talk. Natalie, your career is on the rise now. Don't let the gossip ruin you. Have some self-respect, girl. He's your brother-in-law." Gerald looked at her with those cold eyes, "Don't act as if I've been cheating. I'm not that low!" "You better not. Please remember, Mr. Miller, you're a married man. Don't make a fool of yourself!" Charlotte smiled and said, "All right. I should go. I'll leave you two alone. But Gerald, if you change your mind, I'm always in room 1206." She didn't mean that. She would be more than happy not to see him. Natalie gnashed her teeth in anger. Charlotte's timing was perfect. There was no way that it was just a coincidence! Natalie was planning to have a long talk with Gerald tonight. He would definitely come to her room if she invited. After all, Gerald never said no to her. If possible, maybe the night could be more than a talk…
