Outside again

I was still not sure if I should call her my ally yet. Yes. Our relationship had its bumps, its ups and downs, just like any other relationship. Right now, we have hit a bump, a terrible one. She did not trust me. I did not trust her, and this was the perfect cocktail to NOT do things. She might have been the most affected by Aeolian's kidnapping. She was also the first one to be blamed, for not being able to protect her alpha. She was also very much frowned upon for being a female beta, and well, she was not doing great right now, as a replacement for her alpha. The little bit of what was left of Aeolian's newly formed pack was slowly disintegrating. Many wolves had gone rogue, and many decided to simply adhere back to the old pack. Marina had put in a tremendous effort to keep it all together, but it was clear it was growing harder to do so. With slow steps, she steps inside the room, her eyes switching from me to Cassimir. I knew she was even less fond of him than she was of me right now, so, her tension was very much self explanatory. Her eyes cut from him to Laura and she eventually sighs, deeply, exhausted. "This is a f*****g s**t show... " she mutters and pinches the bridge of her nose with a visibly pissed off look on her face. "They have decided to move the pack from these lands and simply give up." she announces, defeated, her anger slowly starting to bubble again. "So, they simply choose the flight option? " Cassimir snorts, rather amused, as he leans his head into his palm, watching her with curiosity. "What a bunch of idiots..." he snorts and rolls his eyes. Despite the visible discomfort Marina shows at the insult, she says nothing. Most likely because she agrees and she was as unhappy with this decision as we were. "I'm ready to fight for Aeolian, and I'm not even a pack member!" Cassimir snorts and before Marina can bark something his way, Laura hisses for him to shut up. "So, before they start doing that, we were given the opportunity of seven days. We can search for clues for seven days. Of course, they are very certain we will fail, for if they did not find anything, how will we, right?" she snorts and her arms cross on her chest. "But, something tells me you're going to be more motivated to search than the others are." her eyes drift to me again and I feel a cold chill rush down my spine. she trusted us, in an odd way. "We're going out tonight. Mainly for hunting. Our seven days start from the next new moon. But we might pick on something if we go together tonight." "How did you manage to get us both out at the same time?" Cassimir asks, and now he is the one being skeptical. And he was right to do so. Last time we both went out, they all went apeshit crazy at how dangerous that was. Two vampires outside, will alert the other vampires around and the pack will be in danger. As if living with two vampires under their own roof was not... "I'm not entirely sure what got them to agree-" "This could be a trap..." Cassimir hisses and shifts uncomfortably into his seat. "So, you don't need to hunt? You don't need to stretch your legs or have anything else but raw meat they hunt for you? Maybe they feed you rats, and you just have to take it." Marina teases and it seems that Cassimir bites the lure. We both wanted out of this place. We both wanted to stretch, run, hunt, and feed as we pleased. So, all we could do was accept this offer right now, and wait for the next new moon. "Why just on the new moon?" Cassimir asks what I'm thinking. "Because we do sketchy s**t when the moon is hidden. Where have you been living?! Under a rock?!" her arms fly up in frustration and somehow, I get it. We don't want to attract more attention to us than we already are by simply existing, and they did not want to bother covering up after us too much. New moon it was then. I was not going to complain. *** As the sky grew darker, I was slowly growing a bit more fidgety. Marina said she was coming to get us a bit later, after most of the pack had settled into their homes. We truly did not want to attract more attention. and just by existing, we were good at doing that. The small living room I shared with Laura and Cassimir was now empty, as the two started to bicker and retreated to the room they were sharing lately. I did not want to know what they did there, and maybe it was better this way. I did not care enough, or maybe I cared a hint too much to know this was not going as it should. But who was I to dwell in their pots? When Cassimir walks out of the room, I want to hold my breath and play as if I didn't know what had happened. He watches me a bit hesitantly, before the door of the living room opens and Marina steps in. We all exchange a pensive look, before she simply gestures for us to follow. And we do, because we're both just aching to get out. The night air was misty and cold, and It felt nice to be out. "Alright. We're not supposed to go too far into the woods, but as long as we keep close, we remain on our lands, and return before sunrise, we should all be fine. So please, stay close and don't be gross..." she eyes Cassimir and before he says anything, she shifts into the large red haired wolf. With her green eyes, she watches me unease. I might have been a bit too silent for her liking, but I had nothing to say. When she starts running towards the woods, we both follow. As instructed, we do not get separated. We're all just far enough to still hear each other. Cassimir goes straight for his hunt, and I'm not sure what I'm doing here. Nothing was appealing. I did not want to hunt. I wanted to scavenge the whole forest and find my mate. My chest ached with longing, with unspoken pain, worry and anger. I wanted nothing more but to have him here. To have him close. To feel his scent, his touch, his warmth. To see him smile and hear him tell me everything will be alright. that he loved me and he was there for me... I wanted to marry him. I wanted to be his mate, fully and unconditionally. I wanted to be his Luna, now and forevermore.... Yet, he was nowhere to be found. It was like something had snatched him from this world and was making sure we were not going to find him ever again. As thoughts scatter through my mind, something slips me. I can't hear Cassimir or Marina anymore. I can only hear my own feet against the misty soil of the forest, twigs snapping and my own frantic breathing. I stop abruptly before I collide with a three and take a bit to look around. The forest was thick and covered with thick mist that did not allow me to see too much around me. Yet, something felt familiar. I touch the bark of the three and start circling the perimeter slowly, trying to pinpoint my location. With every step I take, the soil underneath my feet grows a bit more soggy and Soon, I'm standing in front of a swamp. Or maybe it's a lake? A lake! A lake covered with mist and surrounded by overgrown weeds.. Something feels utterly familiar about this lake....
