The Dragon King and His Runt

WHAT WILL I BE ?!

So, my brother Isiah will be Beta, my sister Faith will be Luna and my sister Chastity will be the Gamma female for this pack. What will I be? I plan to be a lawyer. See when I turned 16 years old, I had to suffer through another birthday based upon all Faith’s likes and dislikes.

The very next day, Alpha Anderson and my Uncle Beta Aaron were called away to help a pack suffering from rogue attacks. They were gone for a whole week. Long enough for the Elder Council to request two (2) young wolves from our pack to represent our pack at the World Summit. Later to do an 18-month Ambassadorship tour around the world.

Our Luna Naomi, being left in charge, picked me and Delta Matt to represent the pack. She knew we would impress others with our gentle manner, class, sophistication, sharp minds, our fierce confidence and drive, as well as our no-nonsense approach to life. We did just that. Delta Matt is now sharing the Delta position with his brother Luke. Luke is one of the pack trainers. Matt is a hacker/the pack’s computer whiz guy. If Luna Naomi hadn’t sent him, he would have continued to be overlooked for not being as strong as Luke. She was able to prove strength comes in many forms.

Faith didn’t go because she failed too many classes in high school, and needed to earn more credits to graduate. Plus, all she cares about is fashion and how to get the Luna title. Chastity refused to leave her mate’s side for any reason. Plus, neither have a good polished image. Faith dresses like a bimbo and Chastity like a tomboy.

When I was 18 years old, I moved out into my own apartment close to my college campus. I attended Harvard University for four years. I earned my masters in Criminal Justice and Sociology. I graduated a month ago. My brother came back for the weekend to celebrate with me. Luan Naomi threw me a huge party. My sister Faith complained the whole time that Alpha Montego was supposed to come but didn’t. At the last minute, so I just ignored her. My brother Isiah and Alpha Montego are finally returning home today after all these years away.

I, on the other hand, have chosen to become an attorney for any other pack but this one. I will no longer stay where my presence is not welcomed or appreciated. I have enjoyed my time away from my Aunt and sisters too much to ever come back to this mess. Plus, I want no parts of this s**t show that’s about to happen with my sister, as Luna and Montego as Alpha.

She has no real clue how to be a good Luna or a good person, for that matter. That’s why, a year ago, I requested and was granted Lone Wolf status by the Elder Council of North America. No Heartsong has ever been granted this status. Moonsongs are very much sought-after by wolves in packs all over the world. All I have to do now is reject this pack tonight. My brother and I are the only two people besides the Elder Council that know of my new status. My brother and I felt it would be better to wait till the party was over tonight and speak with Alpha Anderson and Luna Naomi about it in private.

I have been in this pack a month too long since graduation doing all the Luna duties and preparing for the Ascension Ceremony tonight. I have a system in place. If my sister Faith listens to Luna Naomi and my sister Chastity, all will go well with the running of the packhouse. Chastity will nurture and love on the pack, since my sister seems incapable. My brother will handle everything else.

Now that shifters have been acknowledged by the human world…. We find ourselves embroiled in many conflict resolutions. I want to be a part of that. We are constantly appearing in human courts and are in need of legal representation.

The Council of Shifters accepted twenty – five applicants from various shifter species……and I scored in the highest percentile. Meaning my education will be paid for ……my next two years of Law School. My preference for my specialty is to represent the monarchies….. Especially the dragons. They are among the few shifters who have had to remain hidden. I want to help them adjust and be able to interact with other species.

Plus, the fact I have a crush on the Dragon King Miles Chen Draconium doesn’t hurt in my book. I met him when I was 16 years old. When I attended the World Summit, where we shifters first made the announcement to the human world of our presence. He gave me a book called “THE SECRETS OF THE MOONSONG CLAN”. That book is my most prized possession. It speaks of my ancestors’ rights, history, power, strength and weaknesses and our overall legacy as direct descendants of the Moon Goddess herself, Selena.

He has flirted with me shamelessly since our first encounter. He is Japanese and 6’9 with a perfect swimmer athlete body. He does have some English blood inside him, which makes his European features even more appealing. We are good friends. He respects the fact I’m waiting for my fated mate. I was heartbroken at 18 years old when I realized he wasn’t my mate. In my pack, wolves get their wolves at 10 years old and can detect their fated mates at 18 years old. We had met up in Paris, just to have both of our hopes dashed. However, he will forever be my Asian Bae, in my head. He told me he loved me. How could we not have feelings for each other after spending every day together for two (2) straight years?

He even met my brother, and they got along great. I have met his entire team. They are a great group of guys.

He told me that I was the only person he would ever willingly take as a chosen mate. I should think about his offer.

I have really been considering it for three (3) reasons:

1.) Dragons are dying out in large numbers. More and more are forced to breed with she-wolves. Dragons are on the endangered species list.

2.) Because I’m a runt, most male wolves see me as a defect. Even those Runts have proven to make excellent Queens and Lunas as well as warriors in history. Runts, unfortunately, have a shorter life span than most regular werewolves. I can increase my lifespan more by mating and marking with a mate fated or chosen.

3.) My wolf named Luna really likes him. I mean she really has a crush on Dragon King Miles. The Dragon King Miles is a hybrid. He has a wolf named Blaze and a dragon named Dradon. Luna has the hots for all three, lol. Given, it’s all the same person but still. They like us, so it would be a good fit. They don’t care that I am height challenged.
