Emily I can’t believe I broke it…is that what frozen means? Anyways, now Zeke is leaning his huge shoulder against mine as he tries sharing this little screen of the tablet. It’s just so embarrassing having to tell everyone that I was too stupid enough not to know how to work one of these things, I mean in my old pack we never used electronics we used our link to communicate. With courage I didn’t know I possess, I lifted my gaze up towards his face. Outlining every little handsome detail, cause I know I’ll never be this close to him again. BRING! BRING! The bell screamed the living poop out of me! Making me jump and scream, while some of the other students laughed before rushing out of the classroom. I say rushing as Zeke growls at each one, before placing a soft hand on my shoulder. “It’s ok, no need to be worried.” He says while looking deeply into my eyes, the blues twinkle and the green seems to swirl as I meet his gaze. “What’s your next class?” He asked. “Math.” I told him, my breathing becoming impossible. “Dang, here I was enjoying your company. I’ll walk yah there, as it’s on my way to Art.” He says while helping me up and out of the classroom, “Have a great rest of the day, Mrs. Gibson.” He says while we step out of the classroom. “You too, Mr. Dawson.” Mrs. Gibson's voice could be heard just as we turned left. Not letting go of my hand even for a second, I feel eyes on me everywhere. Hot burning stares as we walk down the hall. Feeling panic rising, the temptation to release his hand was there until the tingles returned. Causing a calming sensation across my entire body. Just then we come to a complete stop, “Here you are, I guess I’ll see you later.” Zeke said while releasing my hand. Giving me a wink of his handsome blue green eye, he turns and walks down the hall. Disappearing into the crowd of students. “I bet she’s a witch, no way he likes her for her looks.” One student says. “For real, she’s so hideous!” Said another girl. “Do you think he’ll ever break from that curse she put him under? We must save our Zekikens!” Said another girl as she sighs in a dramatic voice. Walking into the science class, I take my seat. Trying to fight the urge to curl up in a ball and cry. They think I’m a witch? A hideous witch at that. Leaning further back into my seat, I tried to hide myself from all the other students when I felt someone tapping me on my shoulder, “Hey, so are you like Zeke’s girlfriend now?” A girl said softly. Looking up I see long beautiful black hair, her eyes bright blue as she smiles over at me. She was absolutely gorgeous, looking like a model with her perfectly fit body and long legs. Her smile grew wider as she said, “I’m Elisa, what’s your name?” Smiling, I say “Emily.” “Aww you have such a pretty name! So I’m going to be completely honest with you right now, I’m looking to make a few new friends this year and I truly think you’d be the most adorable option. Would you like to be my friend?” Elisa asked while smiling widely. Feeling self conscious I ask, “Why me though? You barely know me? Plus I’m not popular like you.” Lay it all out in the open. Giggling, she says “Who said you have to be labeled as popular or not? I for one believe everyone is equal, well beside there are a few rotten tomatoes in the mix but I’ll give anyone a few chances. Like my brother Asher, he usually gives people three chances before he tries a different tactic to help them. So..” Elisa was interrupted by the teacher. “Ok class, let’s all look at the board. As you can see we have twenty problems, all going from easy to almost impossible. I wrote down your names and I’ll be calling you up once I pull your name. If you can count, we have less than twenty students in the class, so be prepared to do it more than once.” Mr. Tanner said while picking up a bucket, giving it a shake he lifted up a slip of paper. “Diana, you're up first. Choose whichever problem you’d like to solve.” He said while placing her name to the side. I guess that means he placed multiple slips with each of our names on it. It’s small but likely she can be called again right after. Diana walks up to the board and solves the problem that says four times ten, putting a forty right next to it. “Great job, I’m glad you didn’t go for the easiest problem. Next is…Gaven, please come up and pick a problem.” Mr. Tanner told him while already drawing the next name. Gaven walked up and picked forty-five divided by nine. Next to it he put five, “Great job! Next is…Elisa, please pick a problem.” Mr. Tanner said while digging around in the bucket. Elisa got up and walked to the board, giving me a smile. She went for the biggest problem on the board, number twenty. Standing there she taps her lips with the marker, c*****g her hip and then writes down three point thirty four. “Wonderful work, Elisa! Next up…Elisa, I guess it’s your turn again.” Mr. Tanner said with a soft chuckle as he watched Elisa move to the nineteenth problem, solving it in a blink of an eye. As she writes the number twelve on the spot. “As always, wonderful work Elisa. Next up is…Gaven you know the drill.” Mr. Tanner said while returning to digging out another name. Student after student we were all getting called up, no one wanting to take the easiest problem four plus four. I assume it was because they wanted to outdo the other, until finally it was the last problem left “Alright last one, Emily. Please come up and solve the toughest problem.” Mr. Tanner said with a chuckle causing a few kids to start laughing as I got up and walked towards the board. Quickly I picked up the marker and wrote the number eight, before scurrying back to my seat. “Good job, now class before the bell rings remember I’ll be taking a test for Wednesday so please try to be here.” Mr. Tanner said while looking at Gaven with a smirk. BRING! BRING! “See you later, stay smart!” Mr. Tanner said while walking back to his desk as I got my bag and started walking towards the classroom door. “Emily, wanna eat lunch with me?” Elisa asked while walking beside me. Giving her a smile I said, “Sure, that sounds good. You're really smart by the way.” Probably sounding stupid as I tried to make a conversation. Her voice turned into a laugh as she said, “Well my daddy, Anthony is a math genius so he taught all of us at the age of seven to do some of the craziest problems. So I guess the credit goes to him. Anyway, you never answered my question from the beginning.” Frowning, I asked, “What question was that?” “Are you dating my brother?” She said while c*****g her perfect brow. My cheeks heated up, as I looked down and said “That would never happen.” Stating facts as I moved towards my locker, Elisa followed. “Why? You don’t like him?” She asked, not out of a rage but out of curiosity. As she leans up against the other locker next to mine. “No, I just think he’s out of my league. He's perfect.” I told her honestly as I shoved my backpack into my locker and shut the door. She burst into a fit of laughter as she said “Emily! What made you think that?” I lowered my head, feeling shy all of a sudden, “Elisa, are you teasing Emily?” Zeke’s smooth voice sounded right behind me, making me feel frozen in place as his breath blew a strand of my brown hair. “I would never! Emily is my new BFF, right Em?” Elisa said while pulling me to her side and slaying her arm around my shoulder. Now in this angle I can see Zeke as he’s leaning up against the lockers, his bright blue green eyes landed on mine as his soft pink lips turned into a smile. “How was math, Emily.” He asked while lifting himself back to standing straight as he walked towards me. “It..it was fun.” I told him, as my body shivered at his closeness. His eyes became brighter as he leaned down, “Ready to go eat?” He asked as his warm breath caressed my cheek, causing my body to quiver. Feeling like I couldn’t speak, I nodded my head. Feeling stupid for not just speaking. “Perfect, let’s go! I’m starving!” Elisa said as she locked her arm around my elbow and started pulling me towards the cafeteria. I felt him, close behind me. The small space between us felt like a raging wave that wanted to pull me back against him. The need to reach out to touch him was making my fingers twitch. Ugh! What is wrong with me! He doesn’t want anything to do with me, so just calm down! Pulling my thoughts back to Elisa to hear that she’s going on and on about a girl shopping trip, something to do with a party, and tons of hot guys. As she leads us to the line while passing me a tray. Finally having both my hands, I reach over and pass a tray to Zeke. “Why thank you, Emily.” The way he says my name feels so intimate and it causes me to turn back around quickly to look at Elisa's long black hair. It’s so pretty! It shimmers into blues, like a raven. I wish my hair was that pretty and long! It’s passed her b*tt.
