Tasha’s pov
I looked at the time and all the decorations I bought.
I don’t know, but it feels as if I am healing my inner child.
Growing up with an alcoholic mother and a busy father we never got time to celebrate Christmas.
I would watch how most families would celebrate Christmas and birthdays and I always envied them.
But this time it is different, this time I get to celebrate Christmas with someone that I love and who loves me.
I heard the doorknob and quickly ran to the door and stood on a chair.
He opened the door and looked at me and I smiled.
“Look at that, you are under the mistletoe,” I said, and he chuckled at this.
“It seems that way, but who do I kiss?” he asked as he was looking around.
He then picked me up from the chair and planted a big kiss on my lips as he closed the door.
He then put me on the ground and then looked at the decorations around us.
“It sure is a lot,” he said, and I nodded and looked at him.
“You must be tired; you had a long day at work. Sit down and I will decorate by myself,” I said, and he shook his head as he hugged me.
“Hell no, I promised you that we would decorate the tree together.
I also promised you that we will have a home alone marathon,” he said and kissed my forehead.
“That is exactly what we will do,” he said taking off his coat.
I got him a cup of warm chocolate milk and then we got started with decorating the tree.
I watched how his face lit up as we tried to figure out how to decorate it.
You see Nathan isn’t that different from me, well except for his bank balance.
I grew up in a broken home while he grew up in a rich one.
They never decorated their own trees but had someone do it for them.
He complained to me about how the trees always looked like they were for some Christmas magazine cover.
He told me that just like me he wanted a messy Christmas tree that made him feel at home.
We both sat down as we looked at our Christmas tree and I couldn’t help but smile.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Nat asked me and I shook my head.
“Not really, it looks like a disaster,” I said, and he chuckled at this.
“A beautiful disaster?” he asked me, and I nodded.
Nathan is an heir to one of the richest families in the world while I am an interior designer.
We met while I was working for his company to decorate their new offices.
I think we were just meant to be because after that we fell madly in love with one another.
It’s been almost a year since we started dating and I know that he is the love of my life.
Life just feels better with him around, I don’t remember life without him.
Well, his mother doesn’t like me much and prefers that he dated someone else.
While on the other hand my father thinks that I am not good enough for Nathan.
So, either way, I guess even the entire world thinks that I am not enough for Nathan.
Well, except Nathan who tells me over and over that I am his world.
The man adores me, I know what it feels like to be truly and deeply loved because I know him.
“Come on, let’s do the home alone marathon,” he said, and I nodded as we started watching.
I have always wanted to watch these movies with someone.
Growing up, I remember I once saw a family of four watching them.
They were laughing and seemed so happy that when I went home I tried to watch them as well.
I thought that I would be just as happy as that family was, but I was wrong.
Instead, it made me realize how lonely and alone I was.
And I don’t think people know or even realize this, but the holidays can remind you how lonely you are.
And now, sitting on a couch eating fresh cookies and popcorn while watching Home Alone is exactly what I have been missing.
Hearing someone else laugh next to me while it is snowing softly outside.
A blankie and warm socks on our feet as we cuddle and laugh.
This is what the holidays are all about right?
Nathan suddenly got a call, but it was after we just finished the first movie and were about to start the second one.
“Is it really ready?” he asked over the phone.
I couldn’t hear what the other person was saying but Nat seemed really happy about it.
“I need to get going,” he said, and I looked at the time and it will be Christmas in an hour.
“But you promised to spend Christmas day with me,” I said, and he nodded as he kissed my forehead.
“It won’t take long, I promise you,” he said, and I nodded at this.
“Do you have to go?” I asked and he nodded with a smile.
“It won’t take long, I will be back before you know it,” he said, and I nodded as I hugged him.
“Be back soon,” I said, and he nodded and kissed my forehead one last time before heading out.
I locked the doors and looked around my small apartment.
I didn’t grow up poor, my father worked more than he lived if I am being honest.
I think it was because he didn’t want to be home to deal with my mother.
So, he worked hard and fulfilled all her demands and one of them was a huge home.
It’s nothing compared to the Cullen’s mansion, but it was bigger than an average home.
When they got divorced Mom won the home and me as well.
Because she was always drinking and always had a hangover the curtains were always closed.
The lights were always off, and the house was always massive and cold.
The complete opposite of my small apartment.
I sat down and decided to watch just a random movie so I could save up the Home Alone for when I am with Nathan.
I don’t know when, but I fell asleep and when I woke up he still wasn’t there.
I picked up my phone to call him, but it just rang, and no one answered.
This isn’t like him; Nathan always answers my calls.
Maybe something else came up, but he would tell me if anything came up and he wouldn’t come back.
I looked at the time and it was way past midnight which meant that it was already Christmas.
I know, my excitement might make people feel like I am a small kid.
But the truth is that maybe I am, but I know for certain that I am trying to heal my inner child.
The child who always wanted her home to be warm but didn’t get that.
The child who wanted presents under the Christmas tree but got nothing.
I decided to make another cup of hot chocolate while waiting for him.
I started changing the channels on my Tv when my eyes landed on a new channel.
And right there, his face was on the entire screen, and they were talking about a car accident.
This doesn’t make any sense, why are they saying that Nathan was in a car accident?
I tried calling him, again and again, but no one answered and when I tried for the hundredth time his phone was switched off.
The news did tell me which hospital he was in, so I rushed there. I got to the reception area.
“Hello, I would like to meet Nathan Cullen,” I said to the receptionist.
“Only family is allowed in ma’am,” she said, and I frowned at this.
“I am his girlfriend, please he would want to see me,” I said, and she rolled her eyes.
“You are not the first one to try and do that today. Leave before I call security,” she said, and I sighed at this.
Nothing and no one will stop me from meeting my Nathan no matter what.
She looked down on her computer and I quickly ran to the elevator.
She tried running after me, but it proved to be hard with her heels on.
By the time she got close the elevator doors were closing.
I knew that he would be in the VIP section, so if I must search the entire place.
I will turn this hospital upside down looking for him.
I searched every room in the VIP section until I found his room.
His voice, that is what stopped me at my tracks.
“I am fine mother,” his monotone voice reached me.
I ran to the room and the moment my eyes landed on him I launched myself on his bed.
I hugged him like my life depended on it because I think that it did.
Hugging him and knowing that he is okay was all I needed.
“Guards, what is happening here. Get her off my son,” Mrs Cullens said.
Two massive guys pulled me off Nathan, but I didn’t care as I looked at my Nat.
“Are you okay? Do you know how scared I was when I saw the news,” I said but frown.
The look in Nathan’s eyes, he looked at me like I was a complete stranger.
“Who are you?” he asked me.
