Chapter 31: Start of something new.

"I swear I'm fine Maddi-"

Skye's sentence was cut off when a loud sound of the door that burst open boomed within the house. Three heads quickly turned towards the living room's door as they heard a rushed footsteps from the foyer.

Vanessa emerges from the doorway and immediately stops on her tracks when she saw the three familiar faces inside the living room whose attention were already caught by her presence. Her hair were disheveled and wet as well as her body. Her clothes were dirty with mud and there were some grasses on the hem of her shirt and some on her jeans too. Her breathing were fast she looks like she ran a thousand miles and her eyes were a bit wide as she search for a particular someone in the room.

The first person she glanced at was Maddison who was firmly stand with her crossed arms in the center of the room. But as soon as she turned her head towards the couch, her eyes immediately saw Skye who is currently sitting there while holding the dark blue blanket that was covering her body.

Vanessa didn't hesitate to move from her spot and hurriedly walk towards Skye's. The latter just stood up slowly from the couch with a confused look on Vanessa's appearance. Though she didn't completely stood on her feet when the ash brown haired girl immediately gave her a bone crashing hug. She nearly got stumbled back from the force and her butt will surely meets the floor if it weren't for the girl's tight hold on her.

Skye reciprocated the hug with a slight grimaced on her face. The blanket she was holding earlier completely fell on the floor.

Another rushed footsteps was heard from the foyer and it only took a few seconds before Levi emerges from the door. Followed by Eric, Seamus and Dean. All of their clothes were also wet and dirty. She gave them a curious look but smile at them when she saw Seamus grin at her.

"Oh Van, you might break my bones if you will keep doing this." Skye struggled to say when Vanessa's embraced didn't even falter a bit.

Skye caught a glimpse of Levi walking beside Maddison on her peripheral vision before Vanessa loosened the hug and face her with a worried look. Her hands were holding both of Skye's shoulder before she speaks.

"Are you okay?" She quickly asked. Immediately checking Skye's body for some possible injury or anything."Are you hurt? What happened ? Where did you go? Did something happens to you?" She added one question after another. And Skye chuckled at her. She sounds like another version of her sister.

"Hey, I'm fine. Nothing bad happened. Well, except that my drunk self made an awful dive on the lake yesterday. " She added and chuckled again.

Seamus who stood beside the doorway snickered at what she have said. He stop immediately when Dean looked at his direction. It looks like only Seamus got humored by the image of her falling from the dock since everyone were so serious.

"What?" Vanessa asked in a faint voice and a confused stare. Slowly taking both of her hands away from Skye's shoulder and back to her sides. Suddenly aware of the other people inside the room.

"I nearly get drowned. But luckily, there was someone nearby who had help me drag myself out on the water. She brought me to her house and lend me some clothes. She even let me stay the night there. " Skye simply explained before she bent down and grab her blanket. She kept it hang in her left arm and face Vanessa again.

"Who was it?" Vanessa asked with a soft voice, genuinely curious. Their cabin house was located at the part of the lake where only her pack and Violet's pack can exclusively go and swim. It's not really a written law of their town but since almost half part of the lake are the Adams' property, the locals were hesitant to go there and eventually, they chose not to, especially those who were not one of their kind. In simple word, humans.

Yet there were some who were still stubborn, but when Violet's reign started, not a single human went there. So if that someone who help Skye was there when she fell, it's either that someone is from Violet's pack or not a resident from the town.

"I don't know her name." Skye was a little too quick to answer. She cleared her throat before she continued. "She didn't tell me her name. She doesn't want me to know. " She added, shrugging her shoulders like it wasn't a big deal. But the truth is, she was just trying to act cool in front of them. Especially in front of her sister. She doesn't want Maddison to suspect that she was lying. Well, those were mostly true but what she was trying to hide was the identity of her savior. Violet. Who actually told her, or more like threatened her to never tell to anyone that it was the famous Violet Adams who have saved her. Skye can still vividly remember how Violet said those words.

"Wait." A deep and sultry commanding voice stop Skye from her tracks. Both women just got left at Henry's cabin house where Skye went to yesterday. She decided to go back there and hoping that her phone was still inside the house. But unfortunately, it was already gone along with her shoes. There's no sign that the house was rummaged by an intruder, so the only possible reason she thought of was maybe one of the twins got her phone and shoes and brought it to her sister. Together with the bottle of vodka. An evidence that she have been drinking.

Skye took a deep breath before she turned back around to face the Brunette. "What is it?" She quickly asked. She didn't intend to be rude but she's in a rush. If her hunch was right then she better be go home right now and explain everything to Maddison. Even though she's an adult, she still cowers from an angry Maddison. There were only few things in the world that she's afraid of. And one of them is Maddison's wrath.

The gorgeous brunette walk towards her. The rain had stop but her hair and clothes were still wet. She walk gracefully that she doesn't even felt shiver from the cold. She stop half a meter away from Skye with same look as before. Bored and cold.

"Don't tell anyone that it is me who saved you." Skye's eyebrow perked on what she said. "Don't tell them where you went or who you've been with." Violet added, void of any emotions.

"W-what?" Skye stuttered and confused. First, this women had no intentions to bring her to her real house and offer her a ride home. Skye was certain that she just live nearby since it was already two times they have encountered at the lake. But this women chose to walk along with her at the woods with her clothes sticking to her skin than going home and change. And now, she doesn't want anyone to know that she saved Skye and helped her. Skye understands her if she's not comfortable with it telling to others but the people who probably worried by her absence by now deserves to know.

"You heard me." The brunette's short reply. She didn't wait for Skye's response and just walk ahead pass her. The auburn haired girl stop and thought for a moment before she followed behind.

"But why shouldn't I?" Skye asked as she struggled to follow Violet's quick steps. She is quite amazed that despite of walking all morning from the mountains down to the lake, the woman doesn't look tired at all. She had a great stamina. "You had helped me for three times now. I owe you." She added.

"I don't need some recognition or anything." She heard Violet quickly said.

"But w-what will I say to my sister if she ask?" Skye huffed, tired from walking and tired from understanding the woman in front of her. "If I lie, she'll know. Even a great lier can't lie to her. "

"That's your problem."

"But-"

"Just do what I say." Skye nearly stumbled back when Violet quickly turned towards her and said those words in a very firm voice. Fortunately, Violet's hand was fast enough that she was able to grab her left arm. Skye wasn't surprised to the woman's fast replex anymore but what stunned her was their chest colliding to each other unintentionally. She felt her breast and she can't help to blush as she stared at Violet's angry yet angelic face.

They both didn't move. Skye doesn't mind it at all as she enjoyed inhaling the divine scent of the woman and stared at her two beautiful orbs. Those eyes were glaring at her ,but surprisingly, there was still softness on the way it looks at her.

Skye witnessed those eyes slowly stared down to her lips. She felt conscious and unintentionally lick her lower lip. She noticed that Violet had a blank stare or maybe she's thinking something else cause she looks like she's in a trance. She subconsciously bit her lip trying hard to guess what's on the brunette's mind. But it quickly stop when she felt Violet's hand grip her arm even tighter. So tight that her arm will surely left a bruise. She winced from the pain but the brunette just grip her more tighter as her jaw clenches and her stares got more intense that Skye thought her eyes dilated and her nose was flaring.

"O-okay." Skye quickly uttered and hold Violet's hand that was holding her. "I won't tell anyone, you don't have to hurt me." She softly added with a confused stare.

Violet's intense look turned into a confused one in an instant. She stared at her hand and quickly pulled it back to herself when she realized what she had done. She turned away in a rushed but she caught a glimpse of Skye softly caressing her arm before she do so. Violet combed her hair back with her hand and close her eyes firmly as she took a deep breath. That was close. She was so close to kiss her mate. She nearly lost in her mind and gave in to her desire. And if she did it, there's no turning back. Violet tried to compose herself, her back still on the young lady.

"Go ahead." She said. Her voice was obviously more husky and sensual so she cleared her throat. "I think that car up front is your sister's car." She added.

"What? Where?" Skye look ahead and tried to find what Violet was saying about behind the trees. It took a few seconds for her to find it. Indeed it was a car. Which parked approximately thirty yards away from them . There's something beside it but she can't tell what it was since both of them were mostly covered by the trees ahead.

"No way." Skye muttered softly and took a steps forward carefully. Her forehead scrunched and her eyes turns in a slits as she tried to look at it clearly. Making sure if it is really her sister's car.

She just walk ahead not even realizing that the brunette stayed behind and didn't even move. Since they came to Henry's cabin, she already knew that her mate's sister was there. Waiting inside the car together with someone. She can smell and hear them from where she stood.

"It's Maddison's." She heard Skye said. "Oh my God, I'm screwed." She added before she walk fast towards Maddison's car. Completely unaware that the Gorgeous Alpha took the opposite way towards her own home. Leaving her alone.

Her mate already found her sister and her friend. She will be safe now without her presence.

"Whoever she is. I wanted to meet her and say my thank you for saving your troubled ass." Maddison said, still crossing her arms. She still had a stern look towards her sister.

"If I ever had a chance of meeting her again, then maybe you can." Skye responded with a cheeky smile. Trying to use her charm to her sister. But Maddison's demeanor doesn't even falter.

"Are you okay?" She asked and face the girl in front of her instead. Who suspiciously turned quiet. "Oh what am I thinking, of course you're not. Look at you. What happened? Why are you all look like some kids who had a race on a mud." She added with a chuckle as she look at her friends.

"We help in searching for you." Levi filled in the answer for her.

"Uhuh. And I say it's not easy since the weather is not really cooperating." Seamus commented.

"Oh my God." Skye suddenly said. She look at the direction of the men in the room and to the ash brown haired girl in front of her. "I-im so sorry. " She added, feeling a bit embarrassed and guilty. "I'm so sorry for making you involved in this. I'm such an idiot." She frustratedly sighed.

"No, it's fine." Vanessa replied. She was calm now since Skye was fine now.

"But-"

"It doesn't matter." All eyes turns to Dean, who is currently leaning from the doorway with his arms crossed.."You're back now and you're safe." He added shortly with a serious demeanor before he uncrossed her arms, turned around and left the room.

"He's right, don't think about it. What's important now is that you're back here ." Levi said with a small smile. He was glad now that Skye's back. His lover wouldn't have a reason to be worried anymore.

"Yeah. We're glad you're safe but excuse us for a while cause I need to go home and shower." Seamus said and turned towards Eric. "C'mon bro. You coming Pipe?" He look at Piper who was currently standing a meter behind Maddison when Eric already left the room.

"No." Piper shook her head. "I'm gonna stay here for a while." She added.

"Okay." Seamus replied. He was about to left the room when he remembered the other twin.

"What about you, V?" He asked.

"I'm staying." Vanessa was quick to reply . Turning her head towards him.

"You sure? Don't you want to change clothes -"

"I can lend her some. " Skye cut off his sentence before he finished.

"Okay." Semaus responded with a shrugged. "See you when I see you then." He added before he left.

"Does anyone of you felt hungry ? I'll prepare some snacks." Maddison was the one who speaks first when Dean's car finally left at the yard.

"I am, my love." Levi said dearly with a smile on his face.

"I know you would be hungry." Maddison replied playfully rolling her eyes. "But you need to take a shower first. And you too, Van." She added and look at the ash brown haired girl who just nodded.

"Okay." Levi answered before he left and went upstairs.

Maddison then turned and face Piper. "Would you help me prepare the snacks?" She asked and it quickly brought a bright smile to form on the younger lady's lips.

"I gladly will ." She responded and followed Maddison to the kitchen.

"Let's go?" Skye asked Vanessa when the two ladies disappeared in the room. And the latter just nodded her head before they took a steps.

Skye let out a sighed. Finally, she had survive without her sister suspecting lies on her story.
