Chapter 34 (Part 1): Her warmth

Left and right. Skye has been tossing and turning for countless times since she laid on her bed. She glanced at the digital clock on her nightstand. It's already a quarter past one in the morning but Skye can't sleep. Her body was exhausted from enjoying the rides earlier but her mind was fully awake. The conversation she had with Violet kept replaying in her mind.

Three hours ago.

Skye's eyebrow perked when she saw Jackson returned her keys to Violet. She's quite surprised that he followed the brunette's order. She wondered, where did his arrogance go? A while ago he was so stubborn, but now, only a few words from Violet, he became a pet who obeyed his master.

She can't blamed him to be honest. Violet has a commanding presence. Her firm and authoritative voice was like a normal thing to her. Her presence engenders trust and respect that made every person immediately conform to her. It's like she was born with a power to hold people in her hand, effortlessly.

As of now, she still does not leave to where she was standing even the keys were already on her hand. She's not even moving a muscle or saying a word. She is just standing there facing Jackson who was giving her an unreadable yet intense look.

Skye started to get confused. She doesn't have an idea what was happening. All she knew was they know each other but they don't seem like a friend the way Violet talk to him. She wanted to say something but she can't even open her mouth. That's because she can feel the tension between the two and she doesn't want that to be transferred to her. She feels stress now, and she subconsciously sighed and bit her lip. Mentally questioning herself why did her night ended up in this situation?

Her mind could no longer answer her own question when she felt Violet's grip on her wrist tightened a bit. She looked up to her to complain but her attention was caught by Jackson's lopsided grin and all too familiar look to her. Those were the looks of men who wanted get under a girl's pants. She immediately felt disgusted. But before Jackson can see her reaction, Violet pushed her completely behind her back where she can't see anything of him other than the back of her head, the brunette's grip tightening as she do so. She's like a lion protecting it's cub.

"I think you should leave now." Violet suddenly said, the coldness of her tone of voice match with anger. Skye felt her body tensed up but she remained silent. She heard Jackson's smirked before he eventually pulled back and walked away.

When he was totally gone on their sight, that's when Violet quickly turned around to face her. Skye was stunned but she never uttered a word. Violet's stern look stopping her to say something.

"Did no one ever teach you that you shouldn't talk to people you don't know?" Violet started, anger was obvious on her voice even though she's not yelling. "Especially if you are alone. And especially in a dark place and there are no other people." She added, saying every words clearly, wanting her to understand everything she said.

"Wh-what?" Skye stuttered, looking at her confusingly.

Violet clenched her jaw before she speaks again."I said the next time you will talk to somebody you don't even know, you should think first."

Skye frowned at her. She didn't like what she said. It's like she's underestimating her.

"I'm not as weak as what you think." Skye matched her anger. Although her mind telling her she can't win against her, she still pushed her luck. "He maybe a man, but I can punch."

"A punch or two can't save your life." Violet responded right away. Her voice rose a little but Skye smirked at her. Not because of her but because she remembered the guy she had punched from two years ago. That guy touched her butt and in returned, she punched him really hard his nose bleed and he can't fully stand up.

"It will. I tried it before." Skye shrugged. She didn't know that the other one got more angry because of what she said. She's also unaware that the Violet was still holding her wrist their entire argument.

"It won't work now." Violet tried as hard to contained the growl that wanted to come out on her mouth. Her temper was only getting worse because of the stubbornness of her mate.

She tried to calm herself and understand the situation since her mate didn't know that the man she encountered was not even human. He may not be an Alpha yet but his strength and ability can't be underestimated. A werewolf like them can't just knock him out in an instant, let alone a human like Skye.

"Why not?" Skye raised her voice a little. She sound like a child who refuses to listen to her parents. It doesn't even help to calm her down. She's having a hard since the way Jackson stared at her mate still etched in her mind. Her territorial inner wolf can't take it. What's hers is hers.

"I just know!" Violet half-shouted."So just don't be stubborn and just listen to me!" She added.

Skye's eyes widened a bit because of her voice. But she replied in an instant, never backing down.

"I am listening. I'm just trying to say that I can defend myself."

"You can't!"

"You'll never know that. You don't know everything."

"But you know nothing!"

"Ah!" Skye yelped when Violet's grip tightened on her wrist, it feels like her bones would brake.

The strong and hot tempered Alpha immediately pulled her hand away from her and she took a step back a little. Her temper gradually decreased seeing her mate massaging her wrist while in pain. Because of her anger towards Jackson, she unintentionally hurt her mate. And she wanted to punch herself for doing it. Guilt is written on her face.

"I'm sorry." Violet muttered.

A pair of beautiful amber eyes turned to looked up to her. Skye frowned. Violet was bawling both her hands and she wasn't looking at her anymore. She's gaze was on the ground , she look like a child who's being scolded. She heard Violet sighed before she raised her head.

"I think you should go back to your friends now." She said with an unreadable look in her face before she took Skye's hand and give her the keys before she walked away.
