"Boys, boys, stop that."
Martha's stern yet playful voice catches the attention of the two men. She was heading towards their direction while carrying a large black tray on her hands.
"Oh no mom, it can't be stop. It's now or never." Roland replied in a slurry voice. He turned to looked back on his brother. Squinting his eyes at him trying to look menaced which he failed to do so in his drunken state.
"You're bothering our guest." Their mother said as she shook her head at her eldest son.
"No we're not." Roland snorted, before facing his mom when she reached their sides and stood beside them before he speaks again.
"We're just asking her a simple question." He said.
Martha rolled her eyes at him, already knowing what was the question. "Go ask somebody else."
"But-"
Roland's words were cut short when a piece of strawberry was shoved onto his mouth. Seamus snickered while the others were trying to hold their laugh.
"Don't make me shoved this whole cake into your mouth. Go find something else to do. Leave this girl alone." Martha said as she wiped away the cream on her right hand on Roland's sleeve. She doesn't want to wiped it on her dress and ruin it, so she just did it on his son's already stained shirt. While balancing the large tray on her other hand.
There was a cake and some saucers that paired with spoons on the large tray. Skye was a bit surprised it doesn't seem to bother the woman holding it with just one hand.
Roland on the other hand was carefully chewing the fruit in his mouth with a creased on his forehead. Titling his head a little. As if he was trying to know what was the thing that was put on his mouth.
"Hmm. Mom, your apple pie taste different, but it's still incredibly delicious." He said. The bickering with his mom and brother was already forgotten as he was now busy licking the cream on his lips.
Levi just chuckled at his brother, as well as the others. While Martha just rolled her eyes at him. But she there was a subtle smile on her face as she's quite pleased that his son complimented her strawberry shortcake even though he thought it was an apple pie.
Martha turned to look at her other son, Levi.
"Go get this drunk ass away from me." She said.
"As you wish Madam." Levi replied, smiling at his mom before he grabbed his brother on his shoulders. "Come on man."
"I'm sorry about that honey." The older woman said it to Skye when her two boys were gone.
"No, it's fine Mrs. Patterson." Skye replied. "I mean Martha." She quickly added when the older woman playfully raised her eyebrow at her. "I'm sorry I always forgot about it." She added and chuckled, a bit shy.
Martha just smiled and brushed it off before placing the large tray on the table. "I made you guys a strawberry shortcake." She said, smiling towards them.
"Oooh yeah." Seamus was quick to stand up and dashes towards the other end of the table with the biggest smile on his face. He was about to grab the only saucer that already had a sliced cake on it when Martha swatted his hand.
"Not that one, young man. Go slice and get some for yourself." She said before picking up the saucer away from him.
"Oh sorry." Seamus muttered before he pick up the knife beside the cake and sliced a piece for him. Piper and Eric did the same after him.
"This one is for you sweetie." Martha offered the piece of cake she had slice earlier to the auburn haired girl standing beside her. "I made this one. I'm hoping you will love it." She added, with a voice that is sweet as her smile. Skye's lips instantly curled a smile as she took the saucer from her, saying thank you as she do so.
"She will definitely love it." Vanessa suddenly said. There was a smile etched on her face as she watches Skye getting a spoonful of cake and bringing it up to her mouth.
The Auburn haired girl chewed it carefully, letting the taste to settle on her tounge. Then eventually, she smiled.
"Hmmm, Wow. This is delicious, Martha." she said before she get a spoonful of it again and eat it.
The woman just chuckled at her. "I know." she said as she caress her shoulder with a smile on her face.
"By the way, how are you here? Are you enjoying the party?" She added. Asking the questions directly at Skye.
"I'm fine." Skye replied when she finished chewing the cake on her mouth.
"Are you sure?" The older woman asked her again, squinting her eyes at her. She's having doubts since the girl hadn't left the table since she arrived. She thought that maybe she doesn't like this kind of party. "You know, you're our guest. And I don't want my guest to feel uncomfortable. Especially you." she added.
Skye chuckled at her before she put down the saucer that she was holding on the table.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I'm really fine." She said with a smile to convince the woman infront of her. "Although I thought it was just with you guys and not.... surprisingly like the whole people in your neighborhood." She continued as she chuckles. "Which is still cool by the way. " She quickly added, slightly joking around.
"Well, that's how we threw a party." Seamus, with a mouthful of cake on his mouth suddenly said. He was back sitting on his previous seat again at the end of the table. "Everyone's is like a family here, so everyone is involved. You have no choice." He said as he continued to chew.
Skye chuckled at his comment and shook her head. She was not a foreign to parties. In fact, her friends always invites her to parties if they have free time. They would drink and dance till they'll get wasted and till their feet will get tired from dancing around. So yeah, she doesn't have a problem on the parties at all.
But the difference is, Skye don't mind those parties that her friends invited her to since she doesn't exactly know the people that's partying with them. Who only mind their own businesses. Not like this one. Although she doesn't know all of them too it still feels like a family reunion. And Skye hates family reunion. And to top it, since she's new to the neighborhood, she catches some of them staring at her. Or she was just overreacting.
But since the people here have their own business too..And plus the beer and foods were free. She was fine about it.
"Yeah. And don't mind her , Martha." Piper , who already eaten half of her cake from the saucer suddenly butted in. " She's a party goer from the city. I bet she's loving this even if she don't say it. " She added with a half shrugged.
"Wow. Thank you for the spoiler, Piper." Skye replied, playfully rolling her eyes up at the brown haired girl. "I appreciate it."
Vanessa and Martha both chuckled at the two.
