I stretch as I wake up the females opening the curtains. There’s no bright sunshine to squint at or any sort of light really. It’s just a dull and miserable day. The type of dreary weather you come to expect at Deathlands. One of the other females wheels in a gold trolley next to me and impatiently waits for me to sit up as she places a wooden board on my lap. Two of them begin to add plates on my lap and I fear I’m going to drop everything. There are oats which I will never touch again after previous experience, there’s sausage, bacon, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, toast, beans, warm tomatoes, and something which looks a little like a breakfast stew with beans and veggies. There’s cereal, various pastries, avocado, yoghurt and some fruit. I stare at the board with my mouth wide open.
