Edited. The Lycan King Depp’s P.O.V I knew that I had a lot to do today and I wanted to get it over and done with as soon as possible, so I made the phone calls that needed to be made, signed the paperwork and tortured the rogues for answers, then I spoke with the new Alpha’s that I needed to meet. My Beta, Johnny, was helping me, so it made the time go faster, not fast enough though, but I kept going until I knew I had to leave. I made the last phone call I had to, met the last new Alpha and signed the last of the paperwork before leaving my office and going upstairs to my room. I had to get ready, so I hurried to shower, dried off and got dressed in blue jeans and a blue pullover black shirt, then put my hair up in a man bun. I hurried out of my room, down the stairs and outside to my car. I drove myself because I knew that I only had a few hours before she left work to go home, so I had to hurry to get there and on my way there I think I nearly hit a few people, but thank the Goddess that they didn’t know who I was. I chuckled as they flipped me off, knowing that I deserved it, but when I finally got there I parked my car and just sat there for a bit. I saw her through the window of the door, taking off her apron and I built up the courage to get out of my car and speak to her. It was now or never, but that didn’t make me any less nervous. What if she rejected me after meeting me in the flesh? What if she expected more than what I was able to offer her? I took a deep breath and got out of my car, closing the door behind me and locking it as I walked to the coffee shop. I opened the door and she turned around to face me, but then she stopped dead in her tracks the second she saw me. As soon as her eyes met mine I felt as if time had stopped and it was just the two of us. We stood there staring at each other for the longest time and it was pure bliss, until I saw my sister come out from the back room. She stopped and looked from Brie to me, then shook her head and walked back behind the counter. I knew that she was going to stay out of this one and I was grateful to her for that. I decided to make the first move because if I didn’t then I feared that we would stand here for the rest of our lives, just staring at each other, which I wouldn’t mind because I could get lost in her beauty and would gladly die looking at her. “Would you like to sit down? I don’t think we can stand here all night, but if you wanted we could.” I said and she chuckled. Her laugh was like music to my ears, like her voice was made by the Moon Goddess herself. “Alright, let’s sit down.” She replied and my lycan, Holler, was howling up a storm in my head. He was wanting to come out and meet our mate, but he also wanted to claim her and mark her right away, so I had to use all my strength to keep him inside. “Holler, calm your ass down. We don’t want to scare her and if you do then I’m going to be so pissed at you.” I said, hoping he would listen to me. “Fine, fine, but you had better tell her all about me or I will be pissed and I won’t let you shift again.” Holler replied and I started laughing. He knew better than to threaten me, but he still did when it concerned our mate and I had to respect that. I gestured for her to take a seat in the booth next to us and she did, then I took my seat in front of her. We kept looking at each other and I wanted to talk to her first, but then I saw the look on her face. The look of fear. She was scared of me and that was the last thing I ever wanted, was for my mate to be scared of me. I had to say something, anything before she got up and ran out of the shop. “I’m glad I made it here on time. I had so much to do that I didn’t think I would make it, but I said I would give you a surprise and I didn’t want to disappoint you. I hope that I will never do that to you, my mate and may I just add that your voice is like music to my ears. You are just as beautiful as you were when you first came to me. I’m glad that you’re not a ghost, Brie.” I said and she sat there listening to me, not saying a word. I listened to her heart rate and heard it calm down along with her breathing. Thankfully she was relaxing around me and that made me so happy. Her hair was up in a messy bun and I could smell her scent, berries and lemons. It was driving me and Holler so crazy that I had to take a few deep breaths to calm myself down. “You said in your note that you left your family because of lies, would you like to talk about that or is it too soon?” I asked and she sighed. She blinked a few times, looking at me, then around the shop and then back at me. Brie’s P.O.V I was so shocked and speechless when I saw him that I couldn’t do anything except listen to him. I honestly didn’t know how to take him or what to say. He was a lot more handsome in real life and looked to be over 6 foot tall. He had green eyes and brown hair that was tied up in a sexy man bun. I got to see the rest of his tattoo and it went from his hand up his arm to his shoulder and chest. I had seen bits of it, but now I was seeing it up close and it looked like a tribal tattoo, a tattoo of honour and power. I looked into his eyes, but then he asked me about why I left my family and I had to look away. I already knew that they were here in town and had been for weeks, but I tried to avoid them. I know that they are looking for me, but I’m just not ready to see them, not yet anyway. “Get ready for a long story, though I only know bits and pieces of it. Parts of my memories come back every now and then, but the last thing I remember was that I was at my real parents house and they were having a party. I was sent to my room because I was of such a young age and I was standing on the other side of my bedroom door, listening to the music for a while before going to bed, but then I was woken up by the sound of a gunshot. There were lots more gunshots until everything went silent and that’s all I remember. The next thing I remember after that was being found in an old rundown abandoned shack. My parents always told me that I was found crying, but I recently learned that I was found curled up in a ball, crying and covered in blood. I didn’t know where I was or how I even got there and before I knew it a strange creature came into the shack, growling and snapping his jaws at me, but then he stopped and he must have heard something because he hid, that’s when my now father and his Alpha came in and found me. I was whimpering and scared, but I also had a high fever, so they took me straight away to the pack doctor, where he gave me some pills to help me with my anxiety, but I later found out that they were wolfsbane pills. Years have passed since that day and I didn’t remember anything from then, hell I still don’t, but when I came home from work one night I overheard my parents talking. They were talking about me, the pills they were giving me, how they found me and how they needed to tell me the truth, but how they thought I wasn’t ready to hear it yet. They said that they thought I shifted at a very young age and went on a rampage, killing creatures, but they never found any bodies or bones, so they couldn’t be sure, that’s why they gave me those pills, to keep whatever is inside me weak and at bay. The second I heard that I was disgusted with them and what they had done, all the lies they had told me, so I pretended I knew nothing, treated them as normal, then went up to my room and packed what I could. I waited for them to fall asleep and then I left a note on my fathers desk, telling them that I overheard what they said and then walked out of the house and out of their lives. Everything I have I worked for and earned. I sped away from there and haven’t looked back since, but now they are here looking for me. I’ve seen them around a few times, but I avoid them. I’m not ready to talk to them, especially as I want to find out what I am first and how I can go about handling this problem.” I replied, but as soon as I stopped talking I realised just how thirsty I was and grabbed my bottle of water, drinking some of it. The whole time I was talking I couldn’t look at him, but then I heard a huge growl and it made me jump in fear. Did I do something wrong? Did I say something I shouldn’t have? I looked up into his eyes and they were pitch black, letting me know that he was furious. Oh s**t.
