Marriage.

"Who exactly are you?" Matilda's father questioned the young man who was standing in front of him. "Are you trying to say you don't know who I am?" He inquired, and the young man's tone was cold and flat. His voice alone made the entire place quiet, and his voice sent a chill down the spines of everyone present. Matilda's parents became immobile as his voice alone was filled with authority. Matilda's parents became immobile as his voice alone was filled with authority. They were all perplexed as to why the great Hector Zachary was in their mansion's compound. "Mr. Hector, what are you doing here?" Matilda's parents inquired because they find it difficult to believe their own eyes. Yes! They are aware that Matilda was discovered in a hotel room with a man, who is still unknown to them. Her family members don't need anyone to explain who the man is in the country because they are staring at him right now. Well! Matilda is unfamiliar with the young man because she dislikes knowing a large number of people. "I'm here to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage, and I don't want to say it again." He made a threat. He was the one who asked for her hand in marriage, and he was also the one who threatened her family members. Matilda opened her eyes wide in horror as she stared at the man. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hector, but what made you think I'd just give my daughter away?" Matilda's father says, pretending to be a caring father, which he isn't. Hector let out a breath. "I believe you have watched the news, and besides marrying her is the best thing that will keep the public from talking too much, so you have no choice but to accept my offer, and I need you to accept it today." Hector's voice was cold and devoid of emotion. It was almost as if the man had lost touch with communication. “My… My daughter isn't some kind of asset that I can just give away because the situation calls for it, and she's also due to marry next wee..." "Then suit yourself." Hector spat before turning around and walking out of Matilda's parents' compound. Hector appeared rude in Matilda's eyes, and a smile appeared on her face due to her parents' rejection of him asking for my hand in marriage... or so she thought. “Hey! "Why are you leaving so abruptly?" Matilda's father was the one who rushed towards Hector, grabbing his hands and pulling him back towards himself. Matilda was furious at herself right now because of what her father had just done. Her parents are completely unashamed. "Keegan, don't touch me." Hector said this as he pushed Matilda's father's hands away from his own. Matilda became increasingly agitated. She felt a strange urge to close the gap between her father and Hector, and she thought it would be really nice to land a heavy slap on Hector's cheeks. Her father, on the other hand, didn't mind being shoved to the side because he smiled forcefully as he stared at Hector. "Why do you suddenly want to request my daughter's hands in marriage?" Matilda's mother questioned, her brow furrowed at Hector. "Why don't you just marry my other daughter?" Cecelia is her name, and she's a real charmer." Matilda was immediately devastated. She felt like puckering as a result of someone requesting her hand in marriage, and her mother should have been explaining why he wants to marry her, but instead her mother is recommending her younger sister. "Was your younger daughter caught with me doing some heinous things?" he wondered, staring at Matilda's parents as if they were garbage. Matilda despised his eyes because they were filled with disgust. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hector, but I'm not sure I understand your previous question." Her mother said this as she tried to close the gap between her husband and Hector. "Good!" Hector exclaimed, then lowered his gaze. "I have already prepared a marriage contract, and I will send you a bride price of twenty million dollars." This contract marriage will only last three years, after which your daughter and I will divorce, and she will be free to marry whomever she wishes." Before handing over a document to Matilda's father, Hector explained. It was the contract form, and just as Matilda had predicted, her father took a pen from his trouser pocket and scanned it for two minutes. "You planned on marrying Matilda just for business, right?" he asked, and Hector refused to respond. "All you have to do is read the contract." Hector yelled. Mr. Keegan exhaled as he wiggled the pen in his hand, his gaze fixed on the contract. He exhaled once more as he quickly sang the contract as if he needed to get rid of Matilda. Cecelia smiled for a moment, then frowned. Charles, on the other hand, was frowning deeply because he had no say in the matter because he knew his parents were easily swayed by money. "Mr. Keegan, you should have read the contract." Hector said as he accepted the contract from Matilda's father. Matilda is at a loss for what to do as he continues to stare at her in disgust. "There's no need to read the contract, and aside from that, I trust you and believe you're doing the right thing." Hector's lips curved into a sinister smirk. "Trust?" he asked, and Matilda's father nodded, causing Hector to burst out laughing. It wasn't a friendly laugh, but the kind that makes your stomach crunch and gives you goosebumps all over your body. Matilda despises such laughter because it does not sound pleasant to the ear. "How much do you know about trust?" Do you believe that having faith in humanity can save your a$$? If you believe that, you must be a coward." Mr. Kegan was unconcerned that a young man he was currently older than was insulting him. Well! When someone with a lot of money insults someone who is greedy for money, society often accepts it as normal, which is sick as f**k! Matilda's father was already uncomfortable with the situation, but he didn't appear to be regretting the fact that he signed a contract marriage on behalf of his daughter. His greed had clearly blinded his eyes, to the point where he was now selling his daughter for a million dollars. Matilda's father didn't even ask for her opinion on whether she liked Hector or not, and Matilda knew she didn't have any say. She was always used as a commodity, and even the man who asked for her hand in marriage didn't ask her if she was okay with this unexpected contract marriage. Cecelia was already exploding in rage because she couldn't believe her eyes that her plan had failed, and she was even more upset because Matilda was now getting married to a very wealthy man, while she would be stuck with the person who Matilda was supposed to marry. “Why…” Hector's voice trailed off as he wiped the sweat from his brow. "Mr. Keegan, why is your daughter still standing here?" Isn't she supposed to get dressed and come with me?" "How come I should?" We don't have to stay together in a contract marriage." Matilda sneered at Hector. "All right, go inside and park your things." I'm a businessman, and I don't have time to waste with you." He uttered, replying to Matilda with a cold tune, and she knew she was doomed. ‘Gush! 'Am I truly married?' Matilda questioned herself, but the answer was negative.
