Matilda had to blink several times in trying to realize what had just occurred.
She was dumbfounded.
“Are you implying that you’re getting married next week?”
Matilda’s only concern was ensuring that she was hearing things accurately.
Hector did not respond to her since he saw no reason to.
He was engaged to a young actress and they are about to get married. Her family was well-known in the business world, and marrying her would make his company well-known throughout the entire world.
Ivy, the actress, was completely in love with Hector, and Ivy had been recommended to him by his grandfather.
Hector had been married to a lady he loved for the past six years, and she had given birth to a lovely daughter for him.
On a fateful day, Hector’s late wife was driving her car to the restaurant where she was to meet up with Hector for their second anniversary when her car was involved in an accident.
Hector’s wife died before she was even transported to the hospital, and he vowed never to fall in love again after that.
Hector had recently lost someone he loved, and the prospect of marrying again only to lose the person terrifies him.
His daughter was his number one priority.
“Do you have any idea why your sister would tamper with your wine?” Hector inquired, taking a step back from his train of thought.
Matilda pondered for a while, placing her index finger on her chin. “I’m her parents’ adoptive child, and she always disliked me for no reason, so I believe she did it to embarrass me in public so that my parents would disown me.” Matilda elaborated.
Hector exhaled a sigh.
He moved towards where his shirt had been laying on the floor, and as he picked it up, he quickly wore it.
Hector turned around and was about to walk towards the door when Matilda yelled his name. “Sir. Where are you heading to?”
Hector came to a standstill when he heard her address him as ‘Sir.’
He turned back and glanced at her with his brows raised. “Do you happen to know who I am?”
Matilda expected him to respond to her question rather than asking her one in return.
She responded to his query by biting her bottom lip. “I don’t.”
He nods his head, believing she was unfamiliar with him.
She would not have been staring at him with a worried expression if she had known him.
Rumors say he murdered his late wife, and despite his attractive features, most women are afraid of him because they don’t want to end up like his late wife.
His late wife was sweet and had a positive attitude. She was well-known in the media as a model, but following her death, the media began to portray Hector as a villain.
Currently. Hector scowled as he looked at Matilda, who was still sitting on the bed, examining her diminutive physique. “You appeared to be in a lot of discomfort. I’ll appreciate it if you don’t care about me and go freshen up in the restroom.”
Hector’s voice was cold, and Matilda felt obligated to nod.
“I’d appreciate it if we could both reason things out before I take my bath. My mother would never believe me if I told her I had been drugged by Cecelia, so please help me.”
Matilda had to beg Hector for help because she was afraid of what her mother would do to her.
He smirked, amused to see her in such a state.
Hector remained silent for an entire minute, forcing Matilda to break the awkward silence. “Wh-y are you staring at me like that?” She asked, stuttering.
Before exhaling, he uses his right palm to keep his hair in place.
For the last four years, he had never felt pity anytime he heard a lady’s plea, and Matilda’s plea was like an awful tune in his ear right now.
“You don’t know who I am, young woman, and what happened last night should be forgotten. You can write down your account number, and I’ll transfer funds for you. The money would be used to compensate for last night’s service, and I hope we don’t run into each other after we go our separate ways.”
He spoke in his customary frigid tone. His hazel eyes were blue like the ocean, and despite the fact that they were entrancing, his remarks were strong and emotionless.
“But…,” Matilda’s voice drifted off.
She wanted to persuade him that she truly needed his help, but after witnessing Hector’s expression, Matilda realized that the only person who could help her right now was herself.
As she grasped her pink flowery gown, she shoved her saliva down her throat.
Matilda wanted to dash to the bathroom to change her clothes, but she had nothing to be embarrassed of. He had seen her naked body the night before, and Hector didn’t appear to care about her, so there was no reason for her to cover her body.
Hector’s gaze was fixed on Matilda as she changed into her pink flowery gown, and he wasn’t looking at her with admiration, but with disgust.
“Sir, you should kindly look away. I can tell from your gaze that you see me as someone who lacks self-esteem, and… just so you know, I do have self-esteem.”
Matilda wanted to cry, but she battled the tears inside her eyes.
He sighed and shrugged his shoulders. “I’m still waiting for you to provide me with your account number.”
Matilda blinks her lashes several times. “My virginity wasn’t for sale.”
Hector instantly nods his head, his lips curving into a thin smile. “Then suit yourself.” He declared, as he turned around and walked towards the door, leaving the hotel room, and seemed unconcerned about Matilda’s feelings.
As soon as Hector opened the door to his hotel room, a flash light began to reflect on his face, and reporters began taking pictures of him.
